We lower our masks over our faces,
Put on our armor,
and get into our places.

You start with a playful jab
But it ****** more than you know.
I raise my weapon in defense,
You take a couple of steps back.
I think the match is done
Until you come swinging
Because you need to know that you've won.

If only you could take your mask off
when we're not sparring;
Maybe then we wouldn't need to fight.

Yes it's true
Heroes need saving too
They get beat black and blue
All to save damsels like you

We both said we would move on,
But our U-haul never came
and the baggage remained.

Now, when she’s yelling my name,
I’m still thinking about yours.

And when you’re taking selfies with him,
you can’t help but
see me in the picture still.

So if this love is still a Home,
then let’s leave the door unlocked.

And kick these ******* guests out.

Looking back, you say that you did everything right and fought for me till the end, but the thing is you fought once I had already surrendered.

You started fighting after I stopped caring.

I checked out and you moved in.

So now we look in the rearview and you think I had impossible expectations but you were just two steps behind my needs, so I had two feet out of the door before you had any inclination where I was going or that I wouldn't return.

Permanently placed
Heavily covered in lace.

Encased

Full of determination
Yet the lack of representation.
No sense of protection
High expectations
That lead to
Constant self evaluation
And even when you're good enough
If not better than
You still never are to them
They treat you as an object
You're not yet
But you might as well be
A wax figurine.
i Wrote this along with an essay of mine about the lack of woman representation in Congress, hope you enjoy it’s one of my fav poems I’ve ever written

I once heard a man say “tomorrow is not your friend”
As smoke swirled around the room I pondered what that meant.
You must live every day as if it’s your last
Dwell not on the past
There are days when melancholy strikes like an assigns from the shadows
My heart grows darkness inside golden meadows
A tainted soul locked in an internal war
As dawn breaks my eyes feel heavy.
The bags under them dark like pools of oil.
We have come to another tipping point
Rally I must to turn the tide
For the soldiers in the golden side.
I’ll live to fight tomorrow.
