It's picture day
I'm watching the freshmen scurry
To fluff their hair
And paint their lips
As the caffeinated college kids
Help to align their hips
With the X on the floor
That gets them out the door

The funniest part of this frame
Is how the teachers also scurry
In their self-obsessed shame
I drew a halo
over your head
to show
the world that side
and keep
the demons for me
Growling curses into unknown faces
Chants to create glorious battle places
Just troop the forces for your defence
Anonymous missiles flew to no-man's land
Bet the devil confronted the angels there
Is this situation watched and celebrated?
When this comes to you, it's frightening
You bring the religious down to doom
But, the more you stress it, it gets stronger
History is a witness, and you know it
Time when mass expatriation and ******
Believing to wipe out the whole kind
His attempt failed, they play the game now
Creating villains in the world, they try
Attempts to tear a whole religion apart
Any good judge and jury would convict me
Slam the door shut, toss out the key
High crimes and misdemeanors in the first degree
Caught in cahoots with poetry

Armed with pen and paper in hand
Stealing from me all that I have
Until my muse says there's nothing left
Empty's the till inside my pounding head

I'll sing like a stool pigeon in the hot seat
In a police line up I'll point out the poetry
Say that's the one that did this to me
The one with the sly smile and rhyme in his teeth

I'll throw myself on the mercy of the court
Plead insanity as I cackle and cough
To tell the truth if you only knew
That last statement is not too far off
And I am not ungrateful
But what lingers
Quakes
A stutter deep in the core
A shake emanating
Under the sternum
A question quavers
It starts slow and easy
A low hum in the caverns
Maybe just a light echoing drop
It's meandering
But building, forming, structuring
Rumbling
Rearing
Blistering
A culminating crescendo,
Cresting, climaxing.
Bursting from the depths
Punch. Puncture. Punctuate.
Three letters no vowels.
—Why?
