Escape, Escape

I run
Dark, shadowy
Escape, Escape

I know I can’t
they will always find me
Escape, Escape

I look back
Remembering what was done
Escape, Escape

Knowing is the worst part
I can only think
Escape, Escape

Remembering hurts
Knowing I will never be that person again
Escape, Escape

I remember the pain and suffering it caused
All I think is
Escape, Escape
For they are me and I am them.

I find it scary how there is no escape,
There is no escape from ignorance,
There is no escape from arrogance,
There is no escape from being judged,
There is no escape from racism,
There is no escape from sexism,
There is no escape from homophobia,
There is no escape from cruelty,
There is no escape from heartbreaks,
There is no escape from disappointment,
There is no escape from failure,
There is no escape from fear,
There is no escape from hatred,
There is no escape from war,
There is no escape from reality,
              NO ESCAPE FROM LIFE.

dings and whistles from the slot alert him escape -
sit before my image enter its wild wolf canyon escape

winding road in lofty forest landscape
beckon her - leave him for my green escape

triple x signs promise writhing bodies
heavy breathing and dark dank escape

the flute lay still of the silent table sparkling
sweet melodic memories of fingered escape

the frothy surging surf traces the seam of the sea -
bathe in my *****, wrap your self in my fluid escape

locked door soft light from below no sounds
inside creative energy sparks a poetic escape

on the placid lake he casts his hopes
awaits the tug - he and his prey escape

she stands eyes closed, smiling face turned upward
feels the breeze in her hair thanks God for this sweet escape

he runs in the field of goldenrod tears stream
and he screams a desperate entreaty for escape

the sylvan spirits flown from the mountain trees
into the green glen whisper as angels - escape!
Author’s Note: This is my first modest attempt at writing in the Ghazal poetic form.  Thanks to poet Rob Kistner whom  I met on HelloPoetry.com for the inspiration for this poem.  Rob is an extraordinary talent who writes with a free yet disciplined artistic brush.  This is the URL for his poetry on that website:  https://hellopoetry.com/Artheo/

It ain’t too bad to be from there
Just ask my family and friends
But it’s too flat, ain’t no way out
The roads are all dead ends.
Sometime soon I’ll find a place
Where the music I’ll enjoy
But for now I keep on tryin’
To escape from Illinois!

There’s a river on the border west
That moves a lot of dirt
Mighty Muddy Mississipp
Drowns the pain and covers hurt
Yeah, I’m movin’ south to New Orleans
Maybe I can find employ
In a blues bar down on Bourbon Street
Escape from Illinois!

Well I stopped a week along the way
When I saw the Gateway Arch.
But the folks out by the airport
Were stagin’ up a march.
Seems a white cop fired a shot that killed
An unarmed teenage boy
Oh yeah, the teenage boy was black,
Escape from Illinois.

Kept walkin’ to the Landing
(Named for Pierre Laclede)
It has most every thing you want
But nothing that you need
Some travelin’ folk told me some news
That made me jump for joy
Memphis maybe had some work
Escape from Illinois!

Found the haunted house called Graceland
And the grave where Elvis lay
Where half a million go each year
(Fifteen thousand every day)
They all want to pay respects
To the rockin’ – rollin’ boy
Put their finger in the bullet holes
Escape from Illinois.

Went downtown, knocked on some doors
Once or twice I went inside
But Beale Street was broken
The travelin’ folks had lied.
‘Cuz there ain’t no jobs in Memphis,
Or maybe I’m too coy
So I hitched a ride to Nashville
Escape from Illinois.

Nashville’s a big old meltin’ ***
Lots of great ones started here
But most end up as tourists
Getting’ ****** and drinkin’ beer
So money’s at a premium
And fame’s a fake decoy
End up workin’ in a record store
Escape from Illinois?

From Asheville to Atlanta
From Austin to LA
From Biloxi back to Baton Rouge
Need a place where I can play
I’ll follow all the buskers,
Form a musical convoy
Livin’ day by day and town by town
Escape from Illinois!

I’m a minstrel, like a rubber band
I keep on snappin’ back
I’m gonna make it somewhere
Singing somewhere, that’s a fact
Got my guitar and my music
Gotta do what I enjoy
Find a place to sing my songs for you,
Hell, it may be Illinois!

Where I go to escape.

When I begin to feel my body broken to the core and my mind shattered into pieces, this paper serves as my bandage and the words serve as my scars.
Words are my escape. I could write till the world ends. I write poetry when the mood strikes and the words just flow and I, unable to control the way my fingers move loosely stuck in a beautiful trance. Whenever I feel I need to get the feelings out, my writings and rumblings are how I escape reality. The words are the little sparkling stars that people think I would not have the courage to express.

My pink journal, filled with words and phrases help me to escape the violence that is life and it becomes a sanctuary where life's troubles and woes slowly drift away. Where I go to escape begins in my bedroom.

In my "haven" there are no rules , I simply say what I want, whenever I feel. My canvas becomes my paper and each word a small fragment contributing to the final image. It has the potential to create beautiful things out of scrap pieces I call my emotions. My ideas pour out on me with the intensity of water flowing through a newly broken dam.

The place where no rhyming, metaphors, or similes are needed. Just thinking, breathing, living and most importantly, the words.

My escape becomes a lens as It is a way to see the world from a slightly different perspective. My escape is part of an expression . When my family and friends turn their backs on me, poetry says: " take a pen and paper and write how you feel." Poetry is my therapist.

Poetry, for me, is all my thoughts. My heart belongs to poetry. It is my confidante, my best friend and the one thing I can turn to when everyone is sick of me. I tell poetry everything; and poetry tells me nothing. I am dependent on poetry.

My escape on pen and paper, emotions poured onto a page because poetry says:  " what you feel is what you write, it helps to let it out." It is a perfect outlet for those who don't scream or like shout but rather engage in their silent cries.
Just a piece of writing. Hope you like it.

there is a time in everyone’s life
where they feel incredibly
          normal
we work to make money,
we spend the money we make to live,
we live to work.
the never ending circle of life.
almost makes you want to watch lion king,
and escape from reality.
movies and fictional characters and books help us do that,
escape.
it’s sad that we have to use that word,
escape.
like we’re stuck somewhere, in prison, and we need to get out.
but is it even truly possible to
escape.
escape reality.
escape life.
escape grief.
escape the mundane.
escape everyday.
should we want to
escape?
does life have to be a jail cell?
why can’t it be a door,
or an open field,
or an unmarked trail,
or the beginning of a story.
less escaping,
more experiencing.
that is my goal in life.

I want to escape

My skin is a prison that I want to escape;
I know there is nothing underneath the flesh and bones I call mine,
but I can FEEL my essence angrily churning,
begging for release of this existence.

I want to escape

The flesh I occupy feels like a punishment
bestowed upon me for not being worthy of being truly free
by God who knows the tortment I wish
on those who are innocent.

I want to escape

The prison of meat I call mine was designed by a being
who isn't limited by one himself.
My flesh burns,
as my soul rejects it.

I want to escape

Can Father hear how
his creation screams inside the neat little prison
he made for me?

I want to escape

Can Father forgive me
for cutting into the walls of this prison
he made for me?

I want to escape

Can Father let me out
of this nightmare of a prison that
he made for me?

I want to escape
I want to escape
Please,
I want to escape.

Sweet Escape

i found my sweet escape
when i'm with you.

i found my sweet escape
when i dream about
how much the sun loves
the moon.

but unfortunately,
my sweet escape didn't think
the same.

my sweet escape didn't think
of me nor did it dream
about our love.

my sweet escape doesn't exist.

I've been stuck
Stuck in this well of lost souls
With not one chance of escape
Wondering forever with these lost souls

Escape
I want to just escape this
Find me
I have to just escape this

Such a bright beautiful light I see
I wiped the dust from my lost eyes
My eyes turned like a switch
Have I been found?

Look closer
What is this beauty
I reached out so far
Felt such a soft warming touch

Escape
I want to just escape this
Find me
I have to just escape this

This is you, you are my bright beautiful light
That can bring me back
Away from this well of lost souls
I'm now no longer lost anymore

Make me feel so still
Catch my thoughts
All contain your presence
My lost eyes so fascinated with your presence

Escape
I want to just escape this
Find me
I have to just escape this

I'm finally free
I have finally escaped being lost
All I saw was you
You are all I want to see

Lost eyes found you
I have finally found you

Is this an
Escape?
The things I do
The words I say
The music I enjoy
The people I love
I'm unsure why
This word is going
Through my head
Escape
Escape
Escape
I only have one thing
That I want to escape.
We all want to escape it.
Take my hand.
We can escape together.
