How would you know
If you stay behind your shadow
As children do when they meet a stranger
How would you know
If you close your eyes to the beauties
This world has to offer
How would you know
If you never try

How would you know
If you close your heart
And just wait to be dead
How would you know
If you just stand in one place
And miss the crossroads life has to offer
How would you know
If you never try

How would you know
The colors of the sky
When the day is born
How would you know
If the scent of spring
Can make you smile
How would you know
If you never try

How would you know
How love is supposed to feel
If you live your life
Hidden behind a shield
How would you know
If you never try

If only you knew how loved you are,
How your worth exceeds wealth by far;
Then you would never shed a tear,
And you would never know a fear.

If only you knew the price I'd pay,
With death and grave the games I'd play;
To see your lips curve a smile again,
'Cause without you all the world is in vain.
For you.
She wondered what it would feel like
To escape the rigid boundaries of words
And speak in the fluid language of art

The chemical pull of the pen was exciting
But the blissful sensation of the brush
May give way to time losing its meaning

Her love of art came from her childhood
Story books when opened meant she
Could fall inside the wonderful illustrations

Years of life and years of passion spent inside
Black and white sketches and drawings
Magical incredible frightening and amazing

She feels the silence between poetry and art
She feels them expand and soften until it seems
Like a giant bubble that holds them both

Sometimes with the Heart
Seldom with the Soul
Scarcer once with the Might
Few—love at all.
We are all hypocrites,
passionate on
crime, ***, and drama

We are all hypocrites,
building our
two-dimensional dioramas

We think fast,
our half-witted brains
conniving

We talk fast,
our foolproof tongues
praising

We love to hate others,
and bask in the glory
of their demise

We hate to love our brothers,
for all our speeches
are mem'rized

Stepping stones from naivety
Our vainglorious insanity
Romanticizing reality

The hand that
feeds us
is our enemy

When will this stop?

Note to self.
life is changing,
i can feel it
in the movement
of the earth
its quakes its shifts
throwing me every way
but where i will land
i cannot say

life is changing,
i can hear it.
a new bell tolls
not for this new day
but for every tomorrow
as they roll onward
tumultuous,
loud.

life is changing,
i can see it.
the light from yesterday
shines brighter
and lights more.
it is vibrant,
and illuminates all i can see

life is changing.
i can not listen
to the same old sad songs
the ones that used to
resonate within me.
a new song is there.
filling me with hope,
beauty, and faith.

i know life is changing;
the sun has finally risen.
Marry me in black:

Love has become twisted and scarred in my apathetic heart
A wretched torture chamber of unfilled dreams and wasted time
Lost hearts and broken memories
Too heavy a price for nothing in the end

Contrasting

Bury me in White:

Let the sweet kiss of death reach my lips in the night
The Angel of Death will breathe into my lungs and peace shall reign
Sweet charity of being free
Hope filled of life evermore

Marry me in black; Bury me in white
