Humans on celestial bodies, if you exist, this is a message to you
In a billion plus a million years, when you find this book hidden in your sands
You'll close your eyes to imagine the beauty of the Earth,
Know that the sun once shined so bright it made our skin glow
The bodies of water hugged the Earth,
All while the moon and stars gave us hope

Humans on celestial bodies, if you exist, this is a message to you
Don’t be cruel to your 'Earth' like we once were
Let the tides of the ocean play with you until they knock you down
Just to look up at the stars as they light up the night sky
Remember, everything exhausting energy will some day die
Leave something so your souls won't look back and….

Universe
Henessy J Beltre Oct 2018
Observer of the Universe you call yourself
Because you see the moon and the stars
And you imagine the galaxies far beyond
Just a reminder
Wherever you may be reading this
In a coffee shop, in a bookstore, or under the covers
We are both wrapped around with blankets of water and mountains
We share the stars & the moon
The sun & the earth
And with that being said
We are closer than you'd ever observe

Honey + Melanin
Henessy J Beltre Oct 2018
She is raw like cacao
Carries a smell of cinnamon and honey
Natural brown eumelanin skin
Everyone judges not knowing what's within

Sweet like honey,
She cures any emptiness carried in a man
Mix her with sunshine
And she glows within

Beautiful big brown eyes
No one ever takes the time to notice her
People only falsely label her and lack realization
That she's the most beautiful and radiant brown skinned girl

Sweet like honey
Beautiful brown girl
Never lose your fire
Even when the sun may not shine, you'll still always blind them

- Henessy J. Beltre
a poem to remind all the eumelanin skinned girls, including myself, that true beauty is within. we should not have to change our appearances to fit in to society's meaning of beauty. (© Henessy J. Beltre - 10.11.2018)

Muse
Henessy J Beltre Oct 2018
Lost myself in your eyes, your smile, your soul
Your beauty was contagious, your love was filling
A force I couldn’t explain when I met you
Your touch left me wanting more

Fate played its role in making me yours
Since I've always craved you from a far
You felt lucky, I felt at peace
You became my muse, you became my king

You are my muse, I was absorbed in your love
Transfused your smile into my life
Exerted with great force, you were something from above
I've got to know why you've been kept from me all along

Fell in love with you like the night sky
Favored whatever got me closer to you,
Filled my late nights with your laugh
I couldn't sleep without you

Oh my muse, how much I love you

Broken in the Bookstore
Henessy J Beltre Oct 2018
Confused and misguided I found myself in the bookstore,
Looking for myself in the writing of poets,
Where pain and love met, I yearned for more
Found myself in disguise, broken, feeling time fly

Broken and insecure, I found myself in the bookstore.
Reading about my past lovers, was I not strong enough for the storm?
Loved a man who failed to explore,
The woman inside me begging for more

Lost but committed, I found myself in the bookstore.
Reminiscing on our lust, was I a bore?
Picking up a book filled with promises,
Will I ever get what love has in store?

Running towards lust, I ended up broken in the bookstore.
You left me broken but wanting more
Addicted to your soul, I failed to remember..
That I met you at the bookstore

bookstores and libraries bring a great level of tranquility.
