‘freedom is a state of mind’
Wars fought
Wars lost
Freedom gained
Freedom lost.
The mind is almost devoid of peace,
When a beast sits entrapped inside.
It is like two magnets of the same charge.
Conflicting and warring,
Trying to meet at a certain point.

Barbed wires of suppression
blunt knives of oppression
The head is a place of chaos
full of:
‘I’m guilty’ ‘No you are not’
‘I’m too proud’ ‘no you are not’
The oppressor just mollifies the pain of the suppressor
It is too weak to overcome it.
The head then bursts
And out flow tears, tears in a million shades
For they signify such different sorrowful tastes
The person, he sighs
An empty mind
Peaceful mind
War fought
War won
Freedom lost
Freedom *gained
In life we tend to give a lot of importance to our insecurities
Doesn't it change
The course we've taken
If I say
I Love you?
Doesn't it mean
The end of what we had
If what we had
Was a beginning?
“If I Say” is about the hard words “I Love you”. As Charles Bukowski wrote in his poem “Confession” – “….the hard words I ever feared to say….”. It’s about beginnings and endings and about poetry itself and what it means. I’ve always thought of a poem as a beginning, as Walt Whitman wrote in “Song of Myself” – “Beginning my studies the first step pleased me so much, ….. I have hardly gone and hardly wish’d to go any further, But stop and loiter all the time to sing it in ecstatic songs”. What I’ve always sort in poetry is truth. The style of writing, or the “beauty” of the poem itself, means nothing to me. Only the beauty to be found within the words.
The poem is about moving from poetry to prose. From the beginning to what’s next. All done by the words “I Love you”, if those words are said. It’s about the potential of words and their impact on our lives.
You are my dragon, dear heart,
You are the roaring force, the fire inside.
I will ride you, boldly, proudly,
Take me where I need to be.

I am made of clay, I need your flames
To make me whole, to bring me to myself.
I have been moulded, but now, I crave the melding,
Breathe on me; set me free.

Dream me now in brilliantine,
Dream that you are mine.
Meet me there, the blazing air
Will feed the flames, birth char-sweet destiny.

You can do this, breathe a world to life,
I know you can, firebreather, raging volcano,
Carry me, I burn so, lava borne,
to our world, dragon, darkly dreamed.
Inspired by 'Dark Dragon' the amazing first novel in the 'Cosmic Warrior' series by Paul M Chafer.
I have never thrown
A stone at two
Birds

I'm not without
Sin, this house
Is all glass

And besides, who
Needs to **** anything
To multitask
Mirror
I am not so different
From a knife--
No use without a wielder,
Yet used so often.

Look at me
And I'll show you what to carve.
Oh don't try to hide it,
It's clear as glass.

2. Eyelash curler
Do not worry,
I will help you.
Do not worry,
I am only bending you.

3. Closet
I am an asylum.
I hold straightjackets.

Choose your own shackles,
I will give you the chains.
Go on,
Wear your insanity today.
Forgetting is ******
The killing of memories
Please don't forget the little things
They mean so much to me.
