In Passing

His soul was so beautiful
I will regret letting him go
Watching him walk away last time
For the last time...
I didn't require love
But I don't deserve abandonment

Now she holds his hand
Comforts him when he sleeps
She feeds the fire in his soul...
I could never give him that
The wrong love
At the worst time

Now all we have are passing glances
And my remorse
Maybe in those ephemeral moments
Our flames could collide yet again
For my BT,
Even if you read this, you still wouldn't know it's about you.

I took my first wrong turn
When I stopped loving you
And letting all our memories
All the moments we shared
Wither along side me

That is when the winter came
That is when the cold became my friend

That mistress trapped me in her embrace
And somehow, I found comfort in her cold
In winter winds caressing my cheek
And being drenched in the rays of a frozen sun

But Winter eventually passed
Leaving me to perish
In the storm raging within me
A letter for a former lover

How is it that the winds gentle push
And a sun's golden rays
Could make an autumn's end so comforting?
With its lights and colours distorted by a fading sky
As the sun begins its descent beyond the horizon
Where its sleep awaits

And it was while the sun shined its final rays
That I saw the last leaf fall
All the way to it's elegant doom

It dove ever so gently
Dancing
Waltzing
Its ruby red tips trembling
As they skimmed the crisp flesh of the evening

It was today that I witnessed the last piece of a vivid autumn
Get carried away to a world beyond mine
Where all seasons go to die
No more photosynthesis for another 5 months

While the heavens wept
I gasped for air beneath the
Waters where I lay

It isn't too late
It's never too late to start
All over again
