You tell me you love me,
but you refuse to acknowledge me in front of other people.
Acting as if my presence
offends the greater good of the hero which you think you are.

I have no place with you in the public eye,
even if it was just a glimpse of truth of the people that live inside these capes.
I am not asking for us to reveal our identities,
but rather for us to hide as little truth about them as possible.

Yet we keep on hiding behind these masks.
Pretending there isn't love burning underneath,
and acting like we can be everyone's *hero.

I only have two requests for God.
To let me bear the burdens of my mistakes,
And to spare him from the pain of them.

And when that love song came on we both knew.
You weren't thinking about me,
and I wasn't thinking about you.

I thought this was love,
but It feels more like a game
of tug of war between heart strings.

I always saw you as perfect,
but you looked at me like I was a puzzle with a missing piece,
and you wouldn't be the one to complete it.

You assault me with scripture,
cutting me with three thousand year old words.
But if I don't believe in your God,
do I still burn?

I paid too close of attention to the details
while you saw the bigger picture.
I'm sorry I stood so close,

and you stood so far back.
