The world is an unfair place
Much to my dismay
The humans lack grace
We didn't write the rules
It just happens that way

The darker side of my mind is where
Abstractions of fragmented poetry breeds;
A baby lies dead in a Hong Kong gutter,
And my lines fall into place.

Broken hearts sing lullabies to me,
Two savage beatings spare me a verse,
New Orleans lends me four at low interest,
And throws in a haiku for free.

The old veteran quotes me three lines
And gets buried with the last.
The rhyme festers with his body;
Both soldier
                      and verse
            are
                       free
                                       again.

I can't explain the beauty I see
In the dying faces of the abandoned ones,
Nor tell you why, if the bomb were dropped tomorrow
I should weep in both anguish and delight.

I can only tell you, should it all end,
Should all modern horrors dissapear,
The future will weep for the joys of the present
And smiles will dissapear forever

The uniVerse
Draw your curtains
block out the sun
let all the hurt in
stop all the fun
close your eyes
as you lay in bed
cut off all ties
be alone instead
dwell on the past
and have nightmares
make sure they last
cause nobody cares
sleep in late
never get dressed
tomorrow can wait
no cause to look your best
don't bother shaving
or even shower
what use is bathing
it's dark within the hour
sit and mope
focus on the pain
destroy all hope
of ever being sane
devour junk food
and drink liquor
nothing kills your mood
as quicker
lounge around
and watch TV
drown out the sound
of anxieties
take your time
to do every task
writing rhymes
behind a mask
forget the date
no need for a plan
it can wait
when you're alone man.

Both hands in my pockets, a blank page tucked in my shoe,
Call it a list of every little thing I wouldn’t give for you,
Traded the city for salvation, but found neither kingdom nor crown,
We were too young for such silence, and far too old to settle down,
Now standing on a subway platform, New York buzzing overhead,
My skull sick with the ghosts off all the things we never said,
Pale skin caked with shadows, dull eyes lit low with fear,
Please bring me back to you, or any place that isn’t here.

Insomnia
is only a dream

Darkness
Illuminated
Time moves
So slowly

The mouse no longer
Runs up the clock
The mouse no longer leaps

Gazing across an expanse of white
(it's not the ceiling, my darling
it's the antarctic
upside down)

Breathing in time
with the wind

Why are your eyes hurting
If they are closed?

NOT IN MY NAME
As your bombs **** children who tonight will be tucked in for the last time
NOT IN MY NAME
As you karma watches you burn in hell
NOT IN MY NAME
The world cries as you play into the hands of the devil within
NOT IN MY NAME
As you hang that last Angel upon your Christmas tree

This Christmas can pass by silently
Mothers cry
Women die
Children crying for freedom in rubble laid graves

NOT IN MY DAM NAME!!! ...

Dad’s blood vessels
wrap around my ankles.
His numbing sclerosis infects my toes.
Mom and Dad sing I alone love you
in an octave with the front-man
on stage.

They cry together,
subdued through flickered smiles,
and I understand what it is
to be devoted in
the way a fire fights to
cling with candlewick.

I can feel it coming back again,
he whispers near her ear lobe.
The arches of his feet tingle
as mom’s veins tangle with dad’s,
his spine reignited by the warmth
of their flame.
