Kite

Dad made a kite
Out of paper and wood
And a white, ripped up sheet for a tail.
We all watched with wonder when without any wind
He could make his kite rise up and sail!
The trick, he would tell us
Is to run just a bit, then let the string play out just so.
There is wind up above us that you cannot see
It will make the kite rise up and go.

Up went his kite
High up over the trees
And soon it was up with clouds.
It dipped, skipped and twirled as he tightened his rein
“It’s DANCING!” we shouted out loud!
The kite, he would tell us
Responds to your touch, don’t hold it too loose or too tight.
Be forgiving, yet firm, let it fly by itself
And most times it will turn out all right.

Dad gave the kite
To the youngest child there,
And the rest of us waited our turn.
The kite soared, then collapsed; our confidence too
Dad taught; we attempted to learn.
Life, he would tell us
Is like flying a kite, you hold on but you cannot control.
Don’t let a failure or lack of success
Stop you from reaching your goal.

Be like the kite
Reach as high as you can
Set your goals high, and dance with the clouds!
Respect and remember the wind you can’t see.
It’s your Faith that will make others proud.
Faith, he would tell us
Is the courage to fly, and belief in a Presence unseen.
But most of all Faith is the strength to go on
When your kite gets stuck high in a tree.

Learned to scream without making a sound
Learned to cry with my eyes closed
Learned to dream without sleep
Learned to bleed without cuts
Learned to feel pain on the inside
Learned to hide scars so they don’t leave marks
Learned to bleed with a heart that stopped beating
Learned to breathe with lungs that have long since collapsed
Learned that my problems cause my loved ones to suffer
Learned that an apology don’t fix anything
Learned that living doesn't mean you’re alive
Learned that asking someone for help makes you a pathetic attention seeker
Learned that its probably better to die rather than to fake living

I think I've found the one.
But she hasn't found me yet.
I think I love her now.
She doesn't have a clue.
Maybe she does..
Or maybe I am overthinking.
I think I love her now.
Im just too lost without her..
Just by hearing her voice
Gives me the impulse to live
To love.. To be stronger..
Starting to love again..

you're tired
carrying the weight of the world
running, running away
what are you chasing?

carrying the weight of the world
against your frail fragile frame
what are you chasing?
peace, quiet, the paradise you'll never find

against your frail fragile frame
still nowhere to hide
peace, quiet, the paradise you'll never find
you're lost

still nowhere to hide
running, running away
you're lost
you're tired

You talk about selfishness all the time, well you thinking like this is selfish,
I need you to live.
enjoy YOUR life,
enjoy the life YOU share with others, enjoy every smile YOU bring,
enjoy every thought of love YOU give me,
enjoy every time YOU make your family happy,
enjoy the fact that if YOU go YOU will be missed,
enjoy the moment,
enjoy the thought of the future,
enjoy us,
enjoy the fact that YOU love someone, enjoy YOUR kind nature,
just like everyone else
enjoy yourself!

truth be told, truth be said

i have a million thoughts hanging above my bed

time can heal wounds but words can't
i try not to recapture the images you plant

truth be told, truth be said*

i guess i'll never get you out of my head

it'll probably take me years
but with that i'll try not to shed a tear
let me start off, right here

Him
I feel so safe laying here
with my head on his chest,
listening to the beat of his heart.
I feel comfort with his arm around
me and his hand resting on my hip,
but I know that he can tear my
heart out as easily as the page
of an old, over-used book
and that's what terrifies me.
