never trust a poet's words
they sound sweet at first
but you'll notice the emotion in their words
it all sounds too...
fake
"i love you like the sea loves the shore"
becomes too scripted
you hear the small tinge of love actually left in their voice
hoping
hoping it could mean something
but it doesn't
it never does
it's just the way they say it
one day, after they have left
you will find their poems, and they will be the exact words that they had said to you
once long ago

perhaps I am a fragment of them,
careful with what I see and not having a lot of skin,
because of the emotions burden to constantly wear
and all the negativity is slowing us down
to move the fingers that crave to write the words,
first on papers and later - hopefully- on every soul,
about the joy, the love, the pain, the hurt we see and feel.

Poetry is not what the poet has to say,
It's what the reader wants to read.
It is not something to be taught in schools,
But to by learned by the heart.
Because maybe then,
People would be able to read people better.
Perceive them as more than just bodies,
See true souls instead of the outer nobodies.
Because what more are people,
Than just the universe's poetry?
Meant for more than just judgement,
Made and created to be loved.

It's a wide open art,
from the start.
Rules are for schools.
Dont fret em,
forget em.
So
Relax with a syntax,
clown around,
with a pronoun.
Squeeze the ******,
of a dangling participle.

Free flying like geese,
creative words release,
make it up if you please.
Example--the plural of mice is meese.

Flowery language isn't the exclusive domain of the professional writer, it's for everyone!
To continue then,
about the writers pen.
No write or wrong,
nothings too short or long.
Mangled,
bungled,
butchered,
bumbled, don't matter.
We don't need a librarian to admire what we have done.

Words aren't hard,
fling them unbarred.
It's not arithmetic,
or teaching a cat a trick.
Crunch them uniting,
mix them combining.
Fling them,
meld them,
Verb them,
sell them.
We don't need a New York Times best seller to enjoy the art of writing.

Uncrate it,
create it.
Use it,
and abuse it.
Don't bar us
from a thesaurus
Or a dictionary.
The spiel
is to write real
tell the tale
seal the deal.
WORD HATERS live in the town called Fictionary.

Writers are often called 'mental travelers',
finding inspiration in imaginative thought;
They follow dreams to many magical places,
and learn about a life that can't be bought.

A story can develop from different angles,
releasing all the joy and sorrow it holds;
Describing wondrous visions from the heart,
with mindfulness of the pleasures that unfold.

The colors of the soul are on display,
they float along with mystery and intrigue;
We find ourselves wrapped up inside the words,
while they promote our aspirations to achieve.

The true poet creates images which survive,
and carry us into worlds of saving grace;
Each verse begins a journey to the stars,
where eager minds discover their 'special space'.

I know poetry is about words
and I do dote on words
I treasure digging up just the right one
to lay out on the carpet and let fly

but I wonder if
it would be well
to just dwell
in the heart space
in silence

to hold the object of my anger or irritation
there
in silence
surrounded by blood
and warmth
there
in the anchor of life

I have come to realize
poetry and its cousin prayer
are just as much
about the heart
as words.

Today i begin to write again
Words that i can't say
Actions that i can't express
