Maria
Oh moon,
Will you tell me
With your pearly eyes

Why is it
That those who have felt the kiss of tragedy
Can make joy for themselves
Can live their lives in peace
But those who live on the highest hill
So close to your paradise
Must create suffering for themselves?

What secrets do you whisper
So delicately, that they pass by our ears
And flutter to the lowest parts of the Earth
To be picked up
By the hopeless
The broken
The empty

That makes them shine so radiantly
With the light
Of a smile?
Hello! I hope you are doing well today ♥
I am fairly new to poetry, so I know there is still some work to be done on this poem. If you have any suggestions on how to improve this, I would appreciate it!

july was
a long
time ago.
i'm still
almost
asleep
here
underneath
this tree;
surrounded
by unknown
wildflowers
-- yellow, blue
some purple.
the insects,
come alive,
on wood
and grass
have started
to sing;
the rosy
evening sky
is mixing
with a soft
golden sun.
eyes shut,
i can hear
the children
playing at
a distance.
giggles; the
bark of a
big dog
with sweet
eyes. the
little girl
has peach
ribbons in
her hair. of
course, this
i imagine
lying here.
strands of
my wild hair
are swaying
with the
breeze;
bare toes
and thighs
and skirt
covered in
damp earth.
as the
clementines
from the
clementine
tree start
to fall, i turn
to lay on
my back.
watching,
with my
eyes closed,
the stars
slowly
appear.
lying
alone
here,
in this
meadow,
i can feel
the months
go by --
the insects
dying and
being born
again;
summer air
becoming
colder
against my
bare legs.

Here in the gray light of dawn
I see you, gentle and tender,
approaching us
and I am in wonder
thinking of my ignorant and obstinate species
and curious about why you keep coming back to us
you beautiful being
each morning and twilight.

My deep sleep dreams disturb
confuse and trouble my mind,
but awake here and now I find
the placid lake of your presence
and abide in your uncanny arrival.
I have been thinking about the recent alignment of Jupiter and Saturn in the twilight sky. This alignment  of the two planets and ours is called a conjunction. The last time humans saw such a close conjunction was 800 years ago. And the experience of this near approach reminds me of the awesomeness and force of the universe, yet it seems such a tender quiet moment like the arrival of dawn.

I miss the waves
I miss the sea
I miss the laughter
that came from thee

Another year passeth we
albeit strange, and slowly

I loved thee from nigh
I loved thee from far
only to part with thyself
a part of me to keep thee warm
Well, I tried

I
am
cautious
     with  my hope
and     optimism
for the year,     2021
but   even so,  I keep the
   flame   of this  candle
well  -  fed

I    light this candle
in  memory of those
who   have lost their
lives in the previous
year    as   well as to
honour             every
hardworking      soul
in      the      frontlines
In such dark times,  it
is hard    to remember
the   light I implore us
all to keep it all ignited
I   speak   to   us as one
race and one race alone
To all my fellow people
my   brothers and sisters
all      over        the  world
please   keep your candle
lit, never forget what has
been lost. Stay safe    and
well all of you May 2021
be    a    year of blessings
and              successes
STAY   HOPEFUL
The days seem to be blurring more and more.
With all that's happened in 2020, it didn't really feel like a new year and in a way, it still doesn't for me. So much has really dawned on me and Ive spent so much time brooding and just lost in my own head.
Even so, I just wanted to keep hope alive for this year.
So many lives have been lost in 2020.
I pray for all of my fellow poets.
May you and your loved ones be in great health and happiness and if you have lost someone you love, to the virus or not, I pray they rest in peace.
I'm cautiously optimistic so officially [though it's a day late], I wish you all a happy new year.
Keep hope alive in your hearts.
We shall get through this storm together for we are one.
Stay safe out there everyone.
Leave a candle in the comments to show your hope for this year.

Much love and blessings,

The scrimshaw of the air, the long whales-tooth of sunlight
Etched with seafarer’s care and his great wantonness for the sea,
A kiss as light as the bottlenose dolphin cresting from the water,
Then night undressed and falling down like sliding beads of watery stars
From the wet coriaceous porpoise skin and a tail of silver fire.
Coriaceous here means leather-like and rubbery

They are the fierce writers
They ride on horses and write past you
They have rode on this earth before
And wrote with reed on various seeds
Armed with fine parchment and accoutrements
Meadows and the cemeteries
Their favourite haunts

I refuse to give in or
give up
Yet, surrender to love, every breath
Mortal this life, the soul one with the infinite

The year of unknown, unthinkable experiences
Tough they were to make you tougher
To suffer not the insufferable

Achievements and success
Showed up at the door
Glorious moments, virtual celebrations
Home, the dance floor

Health, always the prime wealth
Learning it the hard way
Biding time in quarantine
Writing it all
Exhale and inhale, good health

Some troubles came, beautifully gift wrapped
Framed
Unwrapping them and setting right
Will take a little while
All set for the fight

This year 2020 has been a roller coaster ride
Trying to gain the safe ground and smooth ride into 2021

My wishes to all in the world
Happy New Year
