Why is it that
being childish
is always discouraged
why can't people
embrace
the child inside them
why can't people
just see the magic
around them
like a child does
why can't people
love a the
little things of this world

The little things that we do can sometimes change a life
We never really know the impact of what we do today:
A smile, a hug, a small act of kindness; letting them know it's alright.

Be hope and comfort in a world where pain and suffering are rife,
Someone might have had a really rotten time that day.
The little things that we do can sometimes change a life.

Kind words and actions heal but a harsh tongue cuts like a knife.
What a difference it can make by being nice and showing love, so hey!
A smile, a hug, a small act of kindness; letting them know it's alright.

When darkness surrounds us and there seems no end in sight,
And when things look bleak and we're losing hope and someone lights the way,
The little things that we do can sometimes change a life.

If we bring peace where there is hatred and always try to do what's right,
Then maybe when we are in their position they help us to see sun not gray.
A smile, a hug, a small act of kindness; letting them know it's alright.

The little things that we do can sometimes change a life.
It doesn't take much to make a difference, it's true! So again I'll say:
A smile, a hug, a small act of kindness; letting them know it's alright,
The little things that we do can sometimes change a life!

Jessie
I recognized him, not by his ruffled hair,
But by the way he ran his fingers through it.
Not by the clothes he wore,
But the way it shook as he nervously bounced his leg
Like this was our first date again.
Not by his bag or flowers,
But by the scratchy marks on his coffee cup
Showing how picky the boy is.
When I sat across from the boy, so familiar,
I knew it was him by the tinge of a smile
When he made a joke.
And by the way his nose scrunched up
When he realized his coffee was still not right.
And the rhythmic tapping as he stirred more sugar in
Just so he can make jokes about me
Being as bitter as coffee when he returns.
He could look completely different,
And I would still know him better
Than I know myself.
For, when we said goodbye,
I recognized him not by his lips,
But by his kiss.
About the small things one can notice about others
The little thigs of life
Are to most of no great affair
Such as the warmth of the sunshines rays
Or the coolness of the evening air

The little things of life
Are so often unaccounted
But if we would stop and take notice
We would stand astounded

The little things of life
For such we have no time
The colorful leaves of fall
Or a ringing church bells chime

The little things of life
Come to us each passing hour
A thorny bush of roses
Or a welcomed springtime shower

The little things of life
Fill up life's empty spaces
Let's us know that God loves us
And reveal his many graces

The little things of life
Seem to be missed by our eyes
A trees limb bending in the wind
Or the beautiful azure sky

The little things of life
Quickly appear then they are gone
Such as a smile on a strangers face
Or a lonely sparrows song

The little things of life
Are given to us free
The sound of a gently flowing stream
Or the shade of an old oak tree

The little things of life
Like a word so kindly spoken
Can ease a wearied mind
Or help mend a heart that's broken

A thousand little things
Unnoticed by our eyes or ears
Is a thousand little blessings
Missed throughout our years.

My daughter and I came up with the idea to challenge each other . We agreed that each of us would come up with a title and we would each write a poem under that title to see what different ideas we would write for that title. Little Things was my idea.
If you enjoyed please go to my daughters page,Crystal  Sacco, and read her poem of the same title.
Our next duel is one of her making,
We will each be writing a poem under the title "Things I Have Seen"
Hope you have enjoyed our writes.

I felt like nothing was changing
Day after day
Of school
Sadness
Anxiety

Then I look up at the clouds
I looked at them for a while
And I saw that they were moving

Please
Take me with you
At least for a ride..

Last night,
I hugged my favourite book as I went to sleep.
"What an odd thing to do"
my mind said,
But I've never felt so close to myself,
as I did,
that late night.

"The fountainhead" the cover read
as it lay right next to me, on my bed.
maybe im just being dramatic but i felt so nostalgic and so good

The moon is too beautiful
To do something so horrific
Under its gaze.
Written under the gaze of the waxing gibbus.
i saw a little robin sitting in the snow
showing of red breast that almost seem to glow
then he began to sing in the snow so white
a lovely a melody happy and so bright

he sat there a while i listened to him sing
joy to my heart the robin seem to bring
every note in tune not one out of key
i wont forget that day the robin sang to me

it will stay forever in my memory
a part of me for ever  his song will always be
