I rise and fall
As I float on her tides,
Which ebb and flow
From her inner shores.
I am intimate enough
With her seas
To wrestle with the breakers
When tempests rise,
Or to rest, as I do now,
Upon the peaceful waves
As they crash,
In calming measures,
On the white-sand beaches
Her tourists frequent.

Be our courage
When life is frightening,

Be our strength
When we are weak.

Be our peace
When everything crumbles,

Be our portion
When we are empty.

Be our fortress
When flood waters rise,

Be our song
When our vision dies,

Be starvation
When life is a feast,

Be our way,
Our truth, and our life.
A prayer.  A poem.  A longing for Jesus.

come to a place where nothing makes sense because you no longer need it to
relieved of all searching
a plateau floating in deep mystery
fulfilment without effort
the closing of the doors of time
-opening of eternity
held by invisible tenderness
a trusting as natural and complete as love.
brooding clouds cover
the sun's gleaming lustrous beams
this late Friday morn

soft scents of drying lavender send me reeling
my eyes close to an image
                                    her smile

delicate shoots of fresh spring green
                     hold our bodies
                                     we smile

geese speak to the shifting seasons
                       our laugher matches their song
                                        I smile

morning mist lays thick upon the valley floor
                        shortening days bring yellowed leaf
                                         she smiles

thin rays pass folded curtain
morning sunshine plays across her freckles
                                           I smile
a ghostly boat
sailed over the sky's dark sea
a ghostly boat
in manner so slow it did float
ambling the universe's lea
drifting like a lunar lit pea
a ghostly boat

Like a stream that meanders
Cantering music sweet
Caprice treads whimsical
Lightly on her feet.

Like the wind that doesn't know
Where to gently breeze
Caprice breathes here, then there
... the air touched 'n teased.

Like the midnight stars that twinkle
Through the darkness peer
Caprice in a wink
Appears to disappear.

Like the morning sunlight
That hides, then lights up hills
Caprice scampers up and down
Never a moment still.

Like waves and ocean tides
That ebb, rise and flow
Caprice heaves night and day..
Between her joys and woes.

Like raindrops and the rainbow
That hold the other's hand
Caprice sighs and smiles
In but a single glance.

I wonder... if you sense her
Her murmurs, feel her warm breath
Caprice... right behind you..
Though you haven't seen her yet.

Yoke smiles
And twinkles from the eyes
Blend them together
Whisk, whisk, whisk
Till it all bubbles to
A perfect frothy fluffiness -

Heat some love
And tender words
Add fruit of human kindness
Mix, mix, mix
Some rinds of laughter
Blend it all well, in folds

Cup this
Into lightly buttered hands
Of giving

Then warm the heart
And put it in to bake

See happiness rise to a perfect gold

A simple recipe - the soufflé of life

Crisp outside
Molten and soft happiness within

As you travel into life's sunset before me,
walk slowly My Love.
Wait up My Love.
I am not far behind.
Following in the foot steps
you revealed to me
as you My Love
walked in the path to a new day.
Watch for me. For I am coming.
It won't be long now til
we are hand in hand again.
Inspired by 88 year old friend Stan.
He lost his wife June to Alzheimer's
