I wonder how I've ended back up in this position
dependant on not just a chemical or two, but
dependant on the love of a person
You see, I was not born a human, nor have I lived as one,

I'm used to the beauty of the darkness, for in dark places
beautiful flowers grow, but it takes eyes
shadowed in darkness for decades to see them
and to pluck them, one needs a still heart
that no longer beats with the rhythm of a living being

that darkness has shaped my world, shaped my mind
yet in her voice, her words, and her love
I've found myself slipping from that place
being pulled into one in which I do not know how to live
Here there is light, and sights to be seen
with eyes practiced to the sun

I used to believe the universe whispered to me
and maybe it still does, it's just that it's been so long
since I've listened, that its song is distant
raw, and uncaring

You see the universe is lonely,
that's why it turned into you, and into me,
to be embraced with it's own warmth
to embrace itself in its own desire,
what a simple thing we endeavor, is it not?

By becoming creatures bounded in time, and space,
we've forgotten our true self and along with it
the wellspring of love that created us,
now we seek it, although in lesser forms,
experiencing it with only a few
and the upper casts of beings know this,

Somewhere deep in our subconscious we also understand, and we know that we've forgotten it.

It's just that demons have embraced darkness, and a total absence of love, while we try to fill ourselves with small glimmers plucked from flowers that grow in the sun.

Demons, on the other hand, pluck flowers that grow only in the darkness, and those flowers have power over mortals, they will call to thee and under their spell, you will dream dreams meant for only devas, asuras, demons, and spirits.

This nectar is not meant for humans, yet in our arrogance, we reach for their stock and supply,
and with it we compose beautiful songs and paint beautiful shapes, we piece together majestic art and music that can open the mind, bend it, twist it, and mold it in ways from which it can never retreat.

We create,
Things that even devas desire,

We create,
Things that even demons devour,

But to us humans these things are toxic, they are too much, and we become lost to them.
Such that we call madness is a consequence of reaching too deeply into the well of knowledge with an unbalanced, ignorant, distracted, and frail mind, and in doing so, we forsake everything for the pitifullest glimpse of eternity.

In that place; only gods and asuras may roam freely; humans, on the other hand, are far too greedy,
far too curious, far too ignorant, and far too dangerous to possess such knowledge.

We should stick to light plucked from flowers growing in the sun,
because those flowers which grow in the darkness will only lead to our damnation, the conclusion of our race, and the manifestation of something far more terrible than any of our myths ever suggested.
an unfinished piece, not sure if it's a poem, a short story, or just a stand alone piece of silly reflection, I will edit it later into something coherent

I Am the Night

The night, she's black lace,
woven around bright stars,
twinkling little orbs in all of their grace.
Shining brightly, aging slowly, from afar.

The night, she's beautiful the way sad things are,
unappreciated by most, comforting to others,
traveler's follow their GPS, adventurer's are led by their North Star.
The night sky is filled with intricate colors.

I am the night,
dark and mysterious, cloaked in my shade.
I am the dark in the light,
do you feel the rough drag of my blade?

The night, she's a wonder to man.
The night, she's mother to all,
do you hear her urging to you that, "Darling, you can."
Do you hear her gentle, dragging call?

The night, she's filled with pinks swirled into the deep indigo,
it's not hard to fathom why the galaxy meets most's fancy.
Her beauty doesn't shine, her beauty glows,
her colors deeper than the purple in a wild *****.

I am the night,
being your friend, guiding your way.
I am a wight,
I drift in the morning, you beg me to stay.

The night, she's what I dream of.
I try to sleep during the day so I can visit my love.
She's my gentle goddess in the above.
She caresses me with the gentleness of a dove.

I am the night,
closing your eyes.
I am the night,
singing you lullabies.

I am the night,
taking you to the afterlife,
I am your sight,
showing you what you left behind.

Somewhere in the Eden,
where man has lost his right to even go,
somewhere in this Garden
man killed all that once did grow.

To prove we are pathetic
we invade lands that have no walls
Claim the land, and all its living
and make them subject to our laws.

Now, the water dark with death,
and the shore line rich with crude,
and its the men who now can't fish
who are the one's so quick to sue.

But, who speaks for the otters?
or the eagles?
or the land?
What attorney represents them
in the unnatural court of man?

Yet, to even just repay them,
for destroying their families, lives and homes?
The best way we could start?
Is just get out. Leave them alone.

A woman is like a candle,
full of warmth, and bright.
When the world is at its darkest,
a good one can be your light.
She'll bring such heat and beauty,
to see you through the night.
Though storms leave you in darkness,
with her there, you feel alright.

A woman is like a candle, true.
a necessity to have around-
but if denied the proper attention
she could burn your house to the ground.
With nothing but love in my heart...

It's Gravity,
and it holds us together.
We bend space and time
and this pulls us towards each other.
And though it's true
that its a law that can't be broken,
there are forces at work to keep us apart.

We are all
hurtling our way into space.
Our colors change
and we see each other less.
Just to say....
it gets harder each day.
So much space,
and all but ours to fill.

But,
to be the Earth and the Moon,
his one companion.
He holds her near to him
with unseen arms.
Spending days revolving around each other.
Gazing at us stars with knowing eyes.

So many stars,
and all so like each other.
From far away, faces hard to see.
But, to the Earth and Moon we are familiar.
To the Earth and Moon we're family.

See,
it is the stars that illuminate their worlds.
Without our light,
there would be nothing left to see.
We chase the night and the cold of empty space.
We carry with us the promise of another day.

The Earth and Moon
know our destiny lies beyond.
They let us roam,
though they long for eons past.
Over time, even constellations change.
But, throughout
there is a bond that holds us fast.
It's Gravity.
