Well
A full moon
In the dark night
Stayed around the fire

Did nothing
Thought nothing
Warmed
Her winter's blue
Uplifting her spirit
Hide and seek

Gone too far
As if
No one realizes

I Remember, I was twelve.
It was the first time I stayed up the whole night.
Not because I could but because my friend said I couldn't.
Curled with a book, stifling yawn after yawn.
I watched the sun rise
So elated. So naive.
Afterall who'd willingly pass up on sleep if not a child.

I remember I was twelve
Escaping clutches of sweet sleep.
Six years later I lay in bed,
Struggling to call the sleep I pushed away.
Staring aimlessly, frustrated,
screaming into a pillow, clutching it tightly.
6:40am IST
My eyes sting and relentless tears stream from them falling like caresses on my cheek.
I twist, I turn.
I try and try some more,
Then slowly succumb to boredom,
Seeking the sleep I hid from.
I m not sure if this is a poem.

In this life that is full of mystery
Missing someone is another game for thee
It can lose all your loyalty
Yet save your love and dignity

Giving your love to someone isn't an easy task
"Why do you love him?' isn't easy to ask
But all the questions remained unanswered
Someday your heart will be earned

Why do you keep pushing me to someone
Even you know I like you more than anyone
Does all your feelings for me went gone?
Or you just gave it to a better one

I remember everything when we first met
I know it coz my heart isn't easy to forget
He can melt everything with his smile
Yet you can see the truth in his eye

He show me all his love and sincerity
Promise me he's willing to wait for thee
Time had passed but I know he's still there
Wait me to love him back that no one dare

I don't know how can i confess
I'm afraid that everything became a big mess
But all I know is I want him
I want him more than anything

Do we really need to play hide and seek?
Hide your feelings and make me sick
Getting sick because i'm thinking of you
Making me feel you have someone new

Don't tell me you're just playing basketball
Trying to get me and make me fall
But when the time came that you can't fight
You'll pass me to someone to feel alright

If everything for you is a game
Don't blame to someone all your shame
Coz I can forget everything that I feel
What i deserve is what making me real

I was always seeking for you
And you would seek for me too
And when you hid
I'd come looking for you
But when i tried to hide
It didn't occur to you that i was missing
That's when i realised
I was the only one
Playing this little game of hide and seek

"Let's play hide and seek."
She said,
"You count and i'll hide."
So I counted to ten
And off I ran
In search of my little friend
Maybe behind the wall?
Or inside the slide?
My little friend
Sure knows how to hide.
I scratched my head,
And thought again,
Where is my little friend?
Under the big tree!
That's where she must be.
Surely, there I found
Under the tree without a sound
There she floated
High above the ground.
A necklace of pain
Hugging her throat.
What happened to my little friend?
The girl I used to know.
The happy girl she disguised to be.
Why, my little friend?
Why have you hidden your pain from me?
All her life was but a game.
A tormented game of
Hide and Go Seek.
She searched and searched
But she never found herself.
Now lost she will be
For all eternity.
Oh, my little friend,
If only I would have known!
You would not have been alone.
I would have searched,
And you would have been found.
Now I watch
As my little friend
Is lowered to the ground.

It is so beautiful to see
In the memories we'd be.

she giggled and said
let’s play hide and seek
it’ll be fun

she ran off to hide
in her books and her friends
her job and Saturday nights out
soaps on tv box set marathons
long protracted telephone conversations
with her mother

I looked for her at breakfast
while busy running for the bus
home late I failed to detect
the warm glow of a relationship
cooling along with my dinner
eaten alone in cold isolation

one day we bumped into each other
in the hall dodging from side to side
we could not shake
an encounter that had to happen
sometime in a one bedroom house

she looked well though older
a few laughter lines
on her face I’d not made
around eyes that no longer smiled
for me
she giggled and said
found you at last

but sadly too late

1, 2, 3…

I pretend to look for her
but somehow I find her
without even trying
Sadness opens her arms wide,
hugs me so hard
I hear my bones break
I can’t move, I can’t breathe
yet she clings onto me tightly
until she melts
right into

my skin

it must be a childhood playmate
calling from outside the window
with a soft low voice
coo coo coo
waking me up early in the morning

a partridge
a dove
a lingering owl
or you
a tired wanderer on the earth
returned to play
hide-and-seek

It can be amusing
to lose one’s mind.

You don’t catch at first
how it slipped out the backdoor.
But you notice something
is missing, and after a minute
you realize it’s at it again.

You go to the backdoor, chuckling,
and out the screen,
just before you see it
dash around the corner,
you call out,
“Hey *******!
I’ve found you before
and I’ll find you again!”

But then it’s gone,
and for at least awhile
it hides, with you left to seek.

Left with too many empty bottles.
Too many memories.
Too many guilty thoughts.
Too many fantasies.
And far too many sleeping pills,
with not enough sleep.
