Reality can often be cruel
It can be unkind
As time speeds by in a blur,
I try to infer
What he means

“We won’t speak until you have remorse”
Remorse? For what?
For walking away as we screamed at each other?
For taking time to take the hard road like he often scolded me for not doing?
For what I did?

I had remorse for the betrayal and the backstabbing
So I changed.
I had remorse that I wasn’t doing well for myself
So I started working on those

Am I perfect?
No
I never will be
It’s plain to see
Only I am truly free

I don’t get it very often really , but the thought of going to a noisy pub even though the music is going to be so good and even my daughter is playing and I’ll know lots of people is just too much today .

On the day of all souls in the fall
as leaves lose luster to winter’s bane
my father’s shade returns to call
while I walk along a splintered lane:

His memory murmurs in a darkened nook
of years of yearning and wasted days,
as the distance that filled up the book
of our lives still grows as I turn to grey.

The care he’d showed I did not feel
as the pillars of our bridge began to crack.
Too late, I turned back to heal
the fallen span that we now lacked.

By then his old mind’s lantern had failed;
the new light I’d shone back went unseen
and broken arches into a chasm trailed
where once a golden bridge had briefly been.

Across the valley, dark, deep, and wide,
a spectral stretch of stones appears
to shine as a silvery coach now rides
across, to bring two sundered shadows near.

Now on this day of all souls missed
by those who find themselves left behind,
one faithful departed returns to kiss
the forehead of a son’s reopened mind.
A very personal meditation on this day, All Souls’ Day.

The mystery of the human psyche
A million thoughts tumbling
Within the tombola of life
A hand reaches in and saves you from the impending doom that
You’ve ran into
blindfolded like a mouse running from the butchers wife into the hands of a Tom cat
Hold onto your tail
The narrative will change as quickly as the handle is turned
And the tombola will shake you from your imaginary sense of doom
If you pull a zero or a five it means you’ve made it out alive.

In a quiet room
where muses play,
words weave together,
throughout the day.
With ink as a river,
thoughts flow and engage,
each stanza a spark
igniting the page.
Rhythms and rhymes
dance freely in the mind,
as a canvas of feelings
creatively applied.

you're only alone
when you club yourself with the
employees
the tgif-ers
the rule abiders
the girls groupchat from college

you're only abnormal
when you compare yourself to the
smalltalkers
the engineers
the doctors
the selfie people

you had this wrong the whole time

the miscreants
the artists
lone visionaries who pay
for their brilliant ideas in tears
before bed each night
one more day gone by
undiscovered

this is
the secret majority
making no noise

the arthropods of the world
running the talent show
after the curtains draw close

go.

make a paper ball out of it
