Their hearts beat with ours,
keeping time with wagging tails,
never asking for anything more
than care and love,
then return it tenfold
with a gentle warmth
to mend our broken days.
Dogs teach us to live life fully,
they make our days so much better
just by being our spirited
and faithful friends,
which breaks us so deeply
at the very end.

For my lovely neighbours Chris and Carol.
Their beautiful 14 year old Golden Retriever Jess is sadly deteriorating and the vet is visiting them tomorrow to send Jess over the rainbow bridge.

The hardest part is always saying goodbye.
You were always a good girl Jess and you'll be missed so much. 😢🐕🪽🌈

Have you ever pretended a guy was interesting?
Have you slow danced and let him sniff you up close?
It gives you somewhere to go, if you decide to.

Or given a little kiss—nothing slutty in that.
You know, a 'person' isn’t a good kisser - it takes two.
I’m not talking about me, of course.

There’s a two-way interrogation going on
complete with our own internal narratives
—we reenact it’s rituals in the strangest places

Like quiet libraries or the lerch and spin of a dance club
we process by analogy and approximation and it works
until it doesn’t, like cold water poured into a glass.

Then we settle back into the dull rhythms of study
I’m not talking about me, of course.

Yay! Some cold at last, and even a dusting of snow.
We moved back into the dorm—braving knife-like breezes—yesterday.
It was bracing and heroic - do I want it to warm up?
That’s a hard no.

let’s wax poetic..

Think not of winter as bleak
wrap your steely bones warmly, wear a cap
—for gelid wintertide can bind us together.

Midwinter is the time o' the year to be warm hearted,
to find a companion, a creature fair, a lass (or a manly man)
and suggest a more temperate snuggle— it can do no harm to try.

Think not of winter as bleak
make sweet use of flattery, and face cold’s embrace
likewise, cheek to cheek, with a warming and open heart.

Herby topsy-turvy
rolls down
the grassy knoll

Bowled over
One hundred
4-leaf clover’s

Smack dab
Inertia grabs
With a push
Forward whoosh
knocking
to the
ground

Little Wendy
Wiggly giggly
enamored with her
spiral jiggly Piggly tails

Both children
Feet in the air
Without a want
or a care

Laughter
Fills
The
Air

Gazing into the
Cerulean blue sky

Then they
Studied
each other’s eyes,
neither one cry
Nor asked why
They knew

This is how
they first met

A lifetime of Love
Blessings from
God above

Their tome remained
Traditionally
At home
As they roam

It became their journal
Life’s journey
Obituary
Finally
Their epitaph

The hospitals,
They sold our disorder
To the pharmaceutical companies.

Places that ought to look after us,
They look at our purse,
For the drugs.

Immortality
The trees breathe
in a language
older than time.
I’ve got this massive curry leaves tree in my garden. It’s my unofficial therapist..... hehe
Yep, I share my problems with it—big, small, and downright embarrassing...
But I make sure no one’s watching. I don’t want the neighbors thinking I’ve gone nuts!!
heheheh~~
