staring at screens
blinking at lights
we blur the lines
of maps and flights
maybe it's time
to chase some kites

jump in the lake
release our hair
shrug off
the constant stop and play
swim through the night
dream away the day
I think we must be
such a cliché

Dreams of Sepia
be
it a Texan star-beam
or Route 66
           broken umbrellas
                 or sarsaparilla
sugarcane
or Korbel champagne
nylon stockings
& neon signs
driving you insane
drive-throughs
& diners
motels
&
Hell's Angels
on motorcycles
Lousiana swamps
San Francisco lights
Mississippi River
jazz men
cowboys
& hobos
Fred Astaire moments
Oh my America
I lost you forever out of sight
wings clipped
drugged-up
losing my voice
shouting for freedom
losing my love
yet America, I still sing of you
& your sidewalks
& Wizard of Oz
hurricanes
all that I've read of
in books
since when do you
not want
Mad dreamers
reconsider
give me back
my dreams
don't let them wither
please
let me breathe
in your freedom
please
let me in
I'm a Believer
A poem based on true personal experiences of what it's like to forever lose visa rights to the place of your dreams following being detained against your will in hospital under Section3 of the Mental Health act.

To make a poem is simple
All you need is

Nights of tears
A bit of blood
A lot of pain
A touch of peace
Heaps of feelings

All you need is

Pure exhaustion
Fear
Anger
Love
Sadness

All you need is

A whole load of
Emotion

Then when that explodes
Out of your body
You just need to somehow direct
All of it onto
A piece of paper

That's how you make poetry
Not that I would really know.... To all the true poets, I'm sorry, I don't mean to be cocky by assuming that I can write poetry. I know that I can't, I'm just trying to summarize how I write, no matter how bad it is

She had more than just a way with words.
It was in the way she walked and the twinkle in her eye
It was in the words that rolled off her tongue like chocolate.
Charming, was an understatement.
It was in the way she caught your eye as she bit her lip,
Or her full-bodied laugh just as you looked her way.
It was a game she learnt years ago, and had long since perfected.
Charming, was an understatement.
She could keep the attention of any man in the room
With a single look that kept them coming back for seconds
And when she glanced back over her shoulder before disappearing forever,
Charming, was an understatement.
A few tricks that I learned years ago

Scar
Brick barely coated in chipping white paint
Across from a theater with red crushed velvet seats
Green backyards & girls gripping beers
A beamed basement, home of the mountain boy
Not far from the teepee
Brown wood as dark as his ***
Ashy black woods where you gave me your sweatshirt
And my blue hair turned gold
Pale sun in bottles on his back porch
In the orange glow of early summer
Red blood drunkenly thrown away from a broken heart
And the saddest color I've ever seen
The color of something that could never be
The color of you and me

You danced through your tears
But drowned from the rain

Then I danced in the rain
But drowned in my tears

*I miss you so much
For a friend who lost their child to a river that was moving too fast from excessive rain

You look in the mirror and see nothing but a girl
But I look into your eyes and see my whole world

Im always on the verge of tears.
My chest always feels too tight .
I dont even know whats wrong,
But nothing seems to be going right.

I guess I won that stupid fight of "I love you more."
