i know you wonder
how this happened

so this poem
is for you

i'll make this truly easy
to make it within your grasp

you were the missing half of myself
i’ve been searching for all my life

i found you
i want you
i will fight to keep you

you make me feel like i float on air
you overwhelm my soul

and despite all the up's and down's
i still want to be yours

i know demons
plague your mind

whispering to you
dreadful and wicked things

but please
do me one favor

don’t question why i love you
just accept that i do

a version of me once said
long, long ago

that my love for you
was like the universe

well clearly
i failed to mention
that you are the true expanse
of infinite starry night

you are dark
mysterious
chaos and peace
warm and cold, all at once
the beginning and end of all things
older and wiser than you appear to be
and absolutely

it
it sneaks up when you least need it to.
it blocks your every thought and causes stress.
it makes you forget all you ever knew.
it feels so right yet you know the truth.
it will only cause pain in the end.
it takes away the life you had dreamt.
all those past due assignments you must now amend
because procrastination has become your friend.
I write this poem as I have school work waiting to get done.

You are simply beyond description.

For a definition is but a collection of words, and those words are just letters working together to tell a story.

But your laugh takes me on an adventure through worlds undiscovered. Your eyes are deep oceans filled with tales of past shipwrecks before you realized that you were the treasure. Your heartbeat is a symphony composed in a melody that only we know.

So while describing you is this fool's errand, I know mere words will never completely capture you.

For words are just letters working together to be beautiful, and you are more beautiful than any group of words can ever hope to be.

flatten your tongue
slip it between your teeth

n.

your little lips
forming an elipsis

o.

put them together
and may you declare
a word you’d so carefully deny—
no.

you spell it out
on table tops
shout it
from the rooftops

and when cursed hands
seek to defile your shrine
may you exclaim
"i am mine"
for my precious friends with hearts too soft to say no. may you be a little more selfish.

I can't imagine all the
pain you must've felt
as they beat you with the whip.

I can't imagine all the
torture you went through
as they nailed your hands and feet.

I can't imagine what an
eternity spent with you in
Heaven is like but I know
that because of the pain and torture
you willingly endured
I get to spend forever with you.
