We're all powerless!
Nothing is in our control;
not when we die,
not when we were born,
not what we do.
Law stops us or at least most of us.
We don't choose what we learn,
that was decided long before we were around
and will continue long after we go.
We are powerless!
We are unimportant,
unheard of,
silent.
Unless we have talent
even then
we are powerless!
We are the superior species,
we run the world,
we destroy everything!
Natural
or what we created,
we destroy ourselves,
the land were animals roamed
dinosaurs maybe,
now just a city skyline.
Just concrete.
We are powerless!
We are overrun by destruction,
by ourselves,
our systems,
our ideas of right and wrong.
We are powerless!
No matter how many persuaded
there is always
one
who remains in the past!
One
who will not change!
One
who is stronger than us!
that one
leaves us powerless.

Arrival time now
at the self-medication station
where I sit behind the counter
and fill my own prescriptions
to feed the yearning for a funny joke
or a crystal vision.
Pointing with precision
at the problem then
painting pictures all around it,
the mother-me is thinking of
grounding the other-me
until I learn to keep my bathroom clean
and stop to relish in the heaven or hell
of the living daydream instead of
screaming "Escape!" and attempting to make a run for it.
I suffer because I know that
I know better, but
I'm still standing outside in the snow
without shoes on, singing the blues
in fusion with hues of deep purple and lackluster green.
I mean really, baby,
can't we just get a move on and make it past two?
The eternal toddler trapped
only by an always increasing sense of
potential mishaps and wondering if she can sit back and forfeit
a society whose headphones are in and cranked
while walking through a heavily trafficked intersection
without looking both ways.
Call me crazy, but
I hear the melodies, distant
across mountains calling.
I'd rather be a river running than
part of the system, humming.

Its funny how soon we forget.
The Knots in my chest,
Correct me, if I am correct.
We live in a system, within a built in system,
With backup systems, that protect the system.
By making us victim, to our own system.
We trusting a nonanimate object
With intimate aspects, to serve and protect
Via eternal justice, for all human life.
Greed entered the feed, and it cost us
Our bill of rights. Sending women and
Children to fight the systems fight,
It even convinced them, that fighting
Is right? Labeled human beings with
Dog tags, so we think they a low enough life form,
No even a human being, so it’s alright to take their life.
Their system doing the same thing, so it makes it alright.
Too many negatives, I’m positive, will never get it right.
But who am I, I am just a guy.
Who’s social insecurities came from
Social securities the system controlling
Via my social security
Numbers mixed with obscurity
With a credit rating that doesn’t tell the whole story.
A track record that’s way too old;
You see
Between you and me,
The system doesn’t want that to be
As long as there is a greater than,
An equal can never be; it has nothing to do
With me and you. The system designed by a chosen
Few that tell the rest of the world what do, with rules
That allow them to rule, playing us for fools,
Been doing it for generations,
And there generations do it too.
Please re-read and replace the word system with government.

did you know
the shade of
your skin
appropriates some behavior
and not others?
your world
already knows how
to treat you
nameless one

Admire the stars
Look up into the galaxies
The sky goes on for miles
Thousands of solar systems
Waiting to be explored
The stars twinkle lightyears away
Domed above our existence
Watching us as we sleep
Calming and peaceful
It holds us tightly in our atmosphere
