Stories always seem to start in the summer
Not as in
"begin"
or for the first time
be conceived,
but when they live

Winter is dormant,
all the laid groundwork
beneath frozen grass,
yellow-green ice shards
protruding from their
chandelier garden

Hopes and
wishes and
dreams and
sadness and
loves

Pent up
for the past 9 months,
emotional gestation
released in
a bacchanalian
of shameless
feelings
and ritzy wine-coolers

Drink from the goblet.

Fear of the Kool-Aid
has past.

It's immortality.

Even if I forget your beautiful name
that moved my heart day and night like a poem,
silver light in your eyes and your lissome form
all in a moment of insanity or oblivion
a foamy deluge, takes me in, when it comes
looking for each one of us, even civilizations;
who can stop that incessant flow from past
to the time to come, an irrefutable canon!
                                But nature would never forget
the lightening, at it's strike creating a diamond, effulgent,
the mutual intimate wanting, divine, beyond the realm
of human emotions, carved out equally from our psyches
like a gem stone cutter precisely does, with his sharp chisel
in a rare moment of revelation, will it be repeated ever again?

A  brilliance, hearts  struck, emitting echoes of love
though no more we would be in human realm
If only one could imagine a  love  beyond the limits of being
I come to you -
Rivers come to ocean
As monsoon comes to summer

I come to you -
Roses come to lips
As ants come to sweets

I come to you -
Waves come to shore
As truth comes to me

You went too there -
I wait for you here -
Forever and ever ----

Art
What an extraordinary sort of immortality
Janet Brown Jun 2014
If you would Immortal be,
It isn’t any mystery.
You only have to find and be
The “true love” of one cursed to see
Through Poetry.

Love comes! The rhyming words will start
Your  “face is carved into her heart"!
And then come rhythms quick and smart,
Enjoy your lover’s fine honed art…
Ah, Poetry!

Wait! See now, love has run it’s course
It’s time to stop and stay: divorce.
As pain and sadness, dark remorse
Fill up the soul they feed the source
Of Poetry.

Your Name and Deeds Immortalized!
You cannot really be surprised-
As love’s lost, watch poems crystallize
Right before your aching eyes,
You're Poetry.

Entangle me, Entangle you
For what’s a friend supposed to do
But live inside each other’s dreams?
It’s never really what it seems.
I never made a worse mistake,
I won’t live through a second take.

       Recycle me, recycle you
We split this crazy world in two.
And all our kids sleep in their beds
While all our friends just shake their heads.
But no one here will ever know
How hard it is to just let go.

Immortal me, immortal you
The only way to join the two.
So live inside my sweet, sweet dreams
Where all is really how it seems -
And put outside your weary chest
Your pain and fear and on it rest
      My head throughout Eternity
      Embracing me…
   Entangle me.
~1994 Oh, my. Why is it that as a poet I keep telling myself I can pour my feelings into words and it will make them go away? Really, it seems I just store them up for later.

I wish I loved a poet
so I could be immortalized in words
so stories about me could be written in verse
just once

I wish I loved a poet
so I could be an inspiration
just once

I wish I loved a poet
so I could be the writer
just once

I wish I loved a poet
so I could help them when they realize
that the world of dreams is just that

I wish I loved a poet
so I could teach them of reality
of the beauty and the pain and the mystery

I wish I loved a poet
so I could show them the stars
so I could teach them how to reach them

I wish I loved a poet
so we could watch the night
and wonder

just once
