The way your name sounds
when it rolls off my tongue
has begun to lose its luster.
And the sparkle in your eye
has faded to a dull glint,
sort of how the sun reflects
off of rusted metal.
And the way you touch your hair
when you’re nervous is no longer as
endearing as it used to be,
because I find myself rather
bothered and annoyed anymore,
when you reach for a limp lock of fading hair.
Fading love is the most difficult.
Because I still see pieces of someone I love
in there somewhere but it seems as though
my love has faded with the rest of you.

we spoke through the silence of shadow-puppets
on a borrowed brick wall stage
     we'd made our home

we'd whisper secrets to each other
in the same morse-code voices
that flashlights use to speak to the stars

i guess you were right
you really could fold space like a map
and you really did punch right through it

The soul reapers take until there's nothing left,
walking by like hollow vessels.
All expressions far too faded,
endlessly wandering with no meaning.
Long gone are feelings of remorse and sympathy,
now only gestures with no sincerety.
Corpses lie empty on the ground,
so grey, soon abandoned by all color in the skin.
Reapers walking by devoid of empathy,
reavealing their indifference and disdain.
Their minds are breeding lies,
creating the venom their tongues are spitting.
