Faded Promises

Fade to faded photographs
You know the ones
A battlefield from long ago
Broken horses
Broken cannon
Broken men
Faded broken men.

Fade to faded photographs
You know the kind
A desert scene from long ago
Wild ponies
Feathered lances
Proud warriors
Faded broken lifeways.

Fade to faded photographs
You know the places
The ones so hard to find
Clear waters
Untamed wilderness
All God's creatures
Faded fading landscapes.

Fade to faded photographs
You know their names
Seats of power then and now
Wooden desks
Feather pens
Prideful men
Faded broken promises.

Faded are the stars in one's dreams
The spark that holds the heart
That once filled your presence in my life
Faded are your memories of pains that cut
deep within your soul
Death of a loved one that kills you of the agony
Of the loss with time they say the pain will fade
But to me, it feels the same
Faded is your presence that once gave me sweet delight
That once filled your fragrance in my life
Faded is your voice the words that wasn't nice
The hateful games you played on me
Faded off the pain no way it stayed with me
Faded is the love we once held
That once was filled with trust and so much love
Dreams that all crashed down on me when you
cheated on me and made a baby
Faded are your footsteps
That once I longed to hear walking in our bed you
Faded are your footprints that I am now glad not to hear
I longed to keep my steps on your footprints made on sand
But today shores washed them away
Life too will become faded as we age
My beauty will fad so will yours
But one thing that will never fad that will be my heart.

My braided faded bracelet
Is hidden in a box
Always there to remind me
Of something that I lost

My braided faded bracelet
The colors now so light
I found they weren't long lasting
Just like my feelings that blurry night

My braided faded bracelet
Came from a man
That I barely knew
But that might've been the plan

My braided faded bracelet
From that man, he knew
That I wasn't ready
Even though I wanted to

My braided faded bracelet
What it means they'll never know
Because I know what they will say
They'll say I told you so

My braided faded bracelet
A sign I'm one with the rest
Heard your first is never good but I
Thought I'd be different
I remember it like yesterday
50 years back, more or less
She was singing with an old guitar
She wore a faded yellow dress

She sang songs about rebellion
of love and hate and less
She was singing with an old guitar
She wore a faded yellow dress

She lit up the world
In 1971
She burned bright as a comet
She was there, and then...was done

The bar was almost empty
Most nights it was I guess
She was singing with an old guitar
She wore a faded yellow dress

I remember when she saw me
We connected, I confess
She was singing with an old guitar
She wore a faded yellow dress

She lit up the world
In 1971
She burned bright as a comet
She was there, and then...was done

Word spread out about her
She was primed to have success
She was singing with an old guitar
She wore a faded yellow dress

An agent came and watched her
A low life lizard known as Jess
She was singing with an old guitar
She wore a faded yellow dress

She lit up the world
In 1971
She burned bright as a comet
She was there, and then...was done

Promises were made to her
She heard his pitch, and she said yes
She was singing with an old guitar
She wore a faded yellow dress

I saw her climb the charts that year
She was a shell, a real hot mess
She no longer had an old guitar
She now wore hot pants, not a dress

She lit up the world
In 1971
She burned bright as a comet
She was there, and then...was done

You could see she was a puppet
A golden goose for lizard Wes
She no longer had an old guitar
She now wore hot pants, not a dress

I heard she died, an overdose
I wasn't shocked, I must confess
They buried her in Hollywood
She wore a faded yellow dress

She lit up the world
In 1971
I remember her old guitar
And her faded yellow dress
I am the Raven of Dreams,
Who wanders the dreamscapes of yore,
I pluck the thoughts and memories,
That aren't remembered no more,
Shiny things in thoughts and dreams,
And babbles of treasure lost,
In memories long faded away,
In dreams that will live on.

I am the Raven of Dreams,
Who wanders the dreamscapes of yore,
My beak will tear and rip and pull,
And feed on memory's corpse,
All is food to the one who calls,
And walks the dusk and dawn,
In memories long faded away,
In dreams that will live on.

I am the Raven of Dreams,
Who wanders the dreamscapes of yore,
And finds lost things that none could find,
And brings them home with me,
The babbles I seek I will always take,
To decorate my nest,
In memories long faded away,
In dreams that will live on.

I am the Raven of Dreams,
Who wanders the dreamscapes of yore,
Up mountains so tall that no one can climb,
But I can fly so high,
Across endless plains no on can cross,
But I can fly so fast,
In memories long faded away,
In dreams that will live on.

I am the Raven of Dreams,
Who wanders the dreamscapes of yore,
Across endless seas where all become lost,
But I can fly so strong,
Through dark woods so dark no one can see,
But I cam fly beyond,
In memories long faded away,
In dreams that will live on.

I am the Raven of Dreams,
Who wanders the dreamscapes of yore,
And finds the secrets among all our thoughts,
And finds out all there is,
The paths I fly no one can go,
The treasures are mine alone,
In memories long faded away,
In dreams that will live on.

I am the Raven of Dreams,
Who wanders the dreamscapes of yore,
I pluck the thoughts and memories,
That aren't remembered no more,
Shiny things in thoughts and dreams,
And babbles of treasure lost,
In memories long faded away,
In dreams that will live on.

Standing on the street corner
I watch the world go by
and I start to wonder
everybody's busy
no time to take a rest
it's no wonder
I still see you riding on that pony
looking for all the world
like your in your glory

now you've faded away
like a gin soaked rodeo clown
faded away
like a painting on the ground
your the only one,
I'll never miss

I still see you riding high
in the back of my old chevy
learned a lot about life in that car
man it was heavy
I still see your blonde hair shining in the moonlight
blonde has turned to grey
as though your in your twilight

now you've faded away
like a gin soaked rodeo clown
faded away
like a painting on the ground
your the only one
I'll never miss

Time has gone by
and now i sit on the porch
with my daughter
talk about life and what it means to each other
I still see you riding that **** pony
time has gone by and I realize your so phoney

now your faded away
like a gin soaked rodeo clown
faded away like a painting on the ground
your the only one
I'll never miss

Now I've faded so far I'm already gone...
I've faded so fast I'm just a shadow to those I've forgotten...
I'm so far gone feels like I'm sinking...
How can they see, how can know what I'm thinking...

Lost, feeling it until late tomorrow
Feet swallowed by this sorrow
Just like the truth it's hard to swallow
With these demons in brain
You know I can't complain just know I'm going insane, you know I'm with it, I'd wait a whole year or maybe its just 10 minutes so lost keeping up with your feelings, the parchment of hate I'm not granted, I just want real love, admitting it's not enough, though I question it and say **** these feelings, I think I'm running a race and ain't winning, I'm insane, mental deranged and I love it but I can't complain, life might be a mistake but at least it's far from fake and at the end of day everyone's the same, Air Jordans stained with heather, this girl must Satan if she thinks I'm the devil, turn the heat up might give me something to marvel at, now take a step back and give me some space, first and last thing I wants you in my face....

Now I've faded so far I'm already gone...
I've faded so fast I'm just a shadow to those I've forgotten...
I'm so far gone feels like I'm sinking...
How can they see, how can know what I'm thinking...

Took my first steps at age four, already running from my family, running from the law, thoughts already lost and that was before, before I knew where to look, my hands keep shaking, my reputations so shook, why do I keep fighting when I know it's forward I should look, yet still I retreat back, back into the pages of my books, a fictitious liar sinking farther then they can see, every task I've undertook, misunderstood, lost the will get out of bed, lost the will to even wish that I could, so I just lay here, swallow my lies with a side THC, when closed eyes picture my death to foresee, gone with the wind but I'm caught in the trees, holding me backs easy, my head keeps pounding, the noose and me forever...  and possibly... maybe in time... maybe they'll see...

Now I've faded so far I'm already gone...
I've faded so fast I'm just a shadow to those I've forgotten...
I'm so far gone feels like I'm sinking...
How can they see, how can know what I'm thinking, thinking...
How could they know...
Finally finished my first LP, thanks to everyone who showed they're support and to those just enjoy reading my work, it really does mean a lot to me...

In an old...
wallet
box
attic
was an old faded photograph of a photographer.
Meant to be...
left alone
put to rest
forgotten
it was since then brought back by nostalgia and the impossible life that was now to be lived without you.
You liked to be...
behind
smiling through
holding the camera
as you were the photographer but not this time, as you were the photographed...
In front of
smiling at
holding a pose
while I became the photographer, photographing you, the freshly captured photographer in the faded photograph.
In an old...
dream
heart
memory
you never faded but remained the still whole of a perfect silhouette.
The perfect photographer preserved in the perfectly faded photograph for...
love
life
forever.
I spent part of today listening to the album My favourite faded fantasy by Damien Rice and it made me think of the idea to write this piece

Flowing river
Standing on the sand
I wanted to live a time
But it vanished
Like the shapes on sand by the river..

Blowing wind
Sitting beneath the sycamore tree
I wanted to love you
But you drifted away
Like the leaf falling out the tree...

Falling rain
Flying in the rainbow
I wanted to color something
But it faded away
Like the coat of the old man
Who lived by the sea...

Faded memory
Faded love
Faded dreams
Faded i
Faded you
Faded we...
poem about love, memory
