My synthetic sleep catching up with me.
In the darkest hour
all my past and future selves collect into one.
Falling apart.
Piece by piece.
This artificial world, what ever happened to you?
This insomniac world that never goes to sleep.
How did we get here?
Disconnected people polluting the hallow veins of earth.
We think we are free but we are caged in by our highly technologicaly advanced smart phones.
Through out the existence of mankind we have sought to create tools which would further our abilitys to live easier lives but now we have surrendered to our own creation.
Have we become subjected to empty shells or is there still hope?
Somewhere out there is a future world surging with infinite peace.
One nation under assault,
one nation under pressure,
one nation claiming greatness against
an outdated measure.
With liberty and justice stockpiled commodities
and legions of disgruntled youth
left to deal with the atrocities.
One nation under-loved
One nation over-policed
One nation claiming Jesus
wearing the tell-tale mark of the beast.
With hate in the left hand, and hate in the right,
and both hands balled up like we're dying to fight.
A New Day, they call this perpetual night
This suffocating darkness that chokes out the light
And EVERYBODY THINKS THAT THEIR SIDE IS RIGHT.

One nation underwhelmed by the policies they chose
One hypocrisy of a democracy, calling their own stink a rose
One thing after another, no wonder the kids are cynics now,
thinking "You CAN'T make it better, WE don't know how."
Love is lost in the struggle between apathy and hate
America, the beautiful. America, the great.
America, the fractured paragon,
We cling to ghosts of a changing time
We've fallen for the distractions, and
our pedestal is too high to climb.

Oh brothers, oh sisters, what else can we do?
If you'll look out for me, and I look out for you,
just a ripple in this pool of ****
may clear the waters, just a bit.
But as long as there are white votes
black votes
Latino votes
left votes
right votes
there'll be no vote of confidence
in the future of these divided states.
We'll rip ourselves apart,
tear out our own heart
waving our flags the whole time
and claiming no blame for the divide.
God Bless America,
and do it quick.
All sides of this society
are dying or sick.
Divided we fall.

The remnants of yesterday's closure
Either creates tomorrow
Or destroys the future
Divided by variances too shallow
Yet united against the walls
The vague resolutions that regress
Constituting for the insistent calls
Are today's mend-in-progress
That whatsoever made no progress.
The solves for what divides us leads us into more division.

I don't remember when it stopped
But I know there was a moment.

One day the curls framing your face
And your demanding nature
Appealed to me and made me glow with adoration

Another day the way you wore your glasses
How you whispered promises
(That meant nothing now)
Nothing but a guarantee that I would stay,
Made my eyes drift downward, away from yours
Because there was nothing left of you to see.

You spent so long convincing me
That I could count on a forever with you
That it was almost tangible
My fingers brushing against a vision

There was a time when I would have bet my life on it
when you were naked on the bathroom floor
Begging me to stay

“But you promised you would never leave”

We ate some fishes and laid in bed all night
Staring at the ceiling and each other
Talking about the life we wanted.

I realized that they had stopped being the same

I don’t remember when it stopped
But I know there was a moment

A moment when our life together became too difficult for you,
When you wanted different things,
Different partners,
Different lips whispering good night.

But at the end,
When I thought id never live again
All I felt was the relief.

I’d like to say it was all because you loved me
But you told me once that you're not sure how to love.

I finally believe you.

Living with day and night
black and white
crepe myrtles of white and pink
variety and variance make me think
now and then a dissonant pitch
makes my life rich.

But sometime what seems at odds
is not.  Like seeing Love AND God
contemplation AND friendship
solitude AND kinship.
Why must it be either or
against or for?
Why can’t we see through
the differences between me and you?

What is so sad
what seems so bad
is when difference leads to rejection
then I must leave for my own protection.
When she said, “If you are this then you can’t be that!”
I left.  I won’t be her doormat.

Some people thrive on opposition
attracted to dominance and friction
but at this stage of being me
I choose to be free
to see through those things that divide
beyond the outer mar to the beauty inside.
Author’s Note:  This morning I woke thinking about a terrible moment of rejection by someone whom I had loved, been loyal to, and cherished in spite of some of her obvious limitations and failures. I was not feeling bitterness but just a little sad.  She is represented in the last two stanzas of this poem.  I also want to thank a poet on HelloPoetry.com who goes by the name of Melancholy of Innocence  for the partial inspiration for this poem.  He is represented in the second line of the second stanza.  I am so very inspired by the variety of work I read on https://hellopoetry.com/

Why are people afraid of me?
I am simply an ideology.
Why do people feel ashamed of me?
I am simply a human being.

We cannot all think the same,
yet people 'promote diversity'.
We cannot think the same,
so  there lies the hypocrisy.

Amidst their disguises of compassion,
there is a dangerous distraction.
If they truly encouraged love,
then they would not promote destruction.

A looks different from b,
in todays world, that is an abomination.
B thinks differently from c,
in todays world, that is an invasion.

It is also as if people want to rewind time
and stop at segregation.
Like a pervasive virus,
there is more and more division.

We cannot rewrite history, but we relive it.
We can change the future by solving the present.
I am tired of people lying and saying they promote diversity and love
when instead they hate freedom of thought. It is so unfair how people are branded simply because they disagree with certain beliefs or practices. We cannot all look or think the same. But it is terrible when that becomes the expectation. The hate and injustice in this world is so disgusting and devastating. Many people including myself hope for progress but that can be extremely difficult.

“I pledge allegiance,
To the flag,
Of the United States of America.
To the republic,
Of which we stand.
ONE NATION
Under God,
INDIVISIBLE,
With liberty and justice for all”
We are suppose to be united,
We are supposed to be indivisible,
It’s in our name,
UNITED States of America.
But I’m sorry,
We have never been more divided.
People are burning our flag,
The symbol of America,
The symbol of our freedom.
People are kneeling during the National Anthem,
Where soldiers have died fighting for the freedom to do so.
A boy from my class had been sitting during the Pledge,
And that was the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever witnessed.
We have riots,
People rebelling against Trump,
Fighting to tear down historical monuments,
Destroying what we once proudly called, America.
The land of the free,
The land of the united.
For when we are united,
Nothing can tear us apart.
But now, instead of outside forces trying to split us up,
We are doing that just fine ourselves.

I was a whole

Till,
Programmed masks
Imported Seeds
New breed of Genes
Power Vampires
Stepped inside
With,
Invisible thirst.

I was a whole

Till,
They dissected me
Into 7 segments
With
Lines of Hate.

Since then,
I am bleeding.

Alas !!
No one to repair.

We claim we want acceptance,
But how can you fall under this umbrella
If you hold Hate towards
Your community.

Transphobia, your prejudice
Makes your insecurities transparent.

Biphobia, your intolerance makes
You what you can't tolerate. Hate.

Homophobia, like Biphobia
Love is love
Not preordained
From forces above.

Discrimination could never
Build a nation,
Just change the narrative
To fit the occasion.

Those in Power
DIVIDE AND CONQUER,
You've heard that so why so
Divided.
A small poem expressing how I perceive a division within my "community."
Love to all, Live and Let Live.
