I've been changing a lot these days. It feels like up until this point I was just a caterpillar, growing and eating. Absorbing information and understanding. But now I'm ready for the change. Ready to use all that I've learned and absorbed. I've weaved my cocoon and now I am ready to emerge from it's safety and isolation.

Today I leave behind my chrysalis and embrace my life as a butterfly.

I know a butterfly with broken wings
He’s made of smiles and light
Oh, he loves it when I sing
I’ve seen it make him cry

He said he found a way to fly
Even with that broken wing
I told him I’d never seen flight
Quite as beautiful as his
He claims that he can fly
But cannot move his wings
He only rides the breeze
I fear the wind will leave

Maybe in another life I will be something less painful than a human
Fewer feelings and emotions and ridiculous devotions
Perhaps a butterfly so I may sprout wings to go wherever I please
To escape when I want and live among the trees
To be free from the mortal bonds which bind me still
Being crushed by those who see me as a bent and dying daffodil
I am viewed as a damaged and battered being
Yet it seems as though my outside casing is the only thing people are seeing
My mind is quiet foggy but my folded stems are not painful
They just distort my appearance and for that I'm quiet thankful
Because if those who care were to ignore my imperfections
Then by chance I could avoid societal dissection
Let me return as a creature without sense or thought
Then I will never be caught thinking of what I used to be
I'll be free from the prospect that the world ruined me
I thought I was alone in this place of misery
But I was soon brought out and could see clearly, instantly
Love was the lens I needed for sight
But now like the butterfly, it has left to take flight
There once was a time when the world brought me joy
Until I found people who sadistically poison and destroy
Now I again must revert back to nature
In the end it is all I have left...
Sooner or later

Butterflies with Broken Wings
I had a ring with a butterfly
The butterfly had a broken wing
I never wore it because it hurt
The edges would stab my hand
A man I loved saw that ring
And asked if he could have it
He said it reminded him of himself
Because butterflies with broken wings can still live
He said he found a way to fly
And that he thinks he’s doing good
I told him I’d never seen flight
Quite as beautiful as his
He claims that he can fly
But cannot move his wings
He only rides the breeze
I fear the wind will leave

Her long, auburn hair
brushed against her back.
Her lashes lay graciously
so thick and black.

Her plump lips
so bright and blushful.
Her dress matches her skin
from the top to the ruffle.

There is no beauty
like what her soul doth pour
like an azure butterfly
ready to soar.

A butterfly broke its wings
from fleeing through the jungle of rage
then you came along
to gently kiss the cracks
rip a part of your skin
and sew the wings with it

Thank you,
for the butterfly has now witnessed
something more beautiful
than all the flowers it had ever laid on

Swiftly she moves
around the evergreen trees.
Her colorful wings swinging
against the invigorating breeze.

Her colors are vibrant
in the light of the blue sky.
Shining so bright
in the blink of an eye.

There she goes
in her bright,glary shade.
They flutter on with the others
like a flaming butterfly parade.

They flutter and fly
as they leave each branch.
They flutter together
like a butterfly avalanche.

The tree is their home
where they destined to be,
but they do roam around
readily and free.

Together they will stay
in their butterfly family.
This place will always
be their butterfly tree.
