My eyes has been
wide open all night
like a corpse’s eyes

Would you come and
gently close them for
me so I can finally sleep?
I wanted to write a poem about how much I’ve missed her, and I guess this is my way of saying it.

Help! On a deserted island.
I desperately need toilet paper.
A bottle of scotch would be welcome.
Carol from junior prom please.

I wish I had a copy

A replica of you

One to take me shopping

One to hug me too

I wish I'd kept a copy

Now that you are gone

I wish I had that copy

But life still carries on

I wish I'd made that copy

So that you could stay

Instead I watched the real you

Grow faint and fade away
Grieving

She’s like a band-aid
call her when you are hurt
keep her close
she will make you feel better
take care of you
follow you anywhere you go
she will be by your side

Until the day
you are healed
no longer in need of her
rip her off and throw her away
like she was nothing more
than a band-aid

I want to write
You a poem
But I am too shy
So, I scream in my pillow
Thinking of your face
Next to a lullaby

I should be out of tears by now
have cultivated the strength of a warrior

I wish I knew why I keep waking up
in the morning
                           (despite the night)

again, again, again
