Brother Bear (your name in English)
once again we meet in joy.
Soon our laughter rolls across the fields
and plains and forests, boy.

My best friend, my twin although
you're twin years younger than I am.
Still in many ways superior to this
rough and rugged man.

*Hark, I feel my stomach shiver.
I can hear my liver sigh.
I can sense my brain's uneasiness,
I hear my kidneys cry.
I can feel my long intestine curling up
and screaming WHY!?
I can smell the smoke from meat ablaze
across the summer sky.
The last verse is a poem I sms' ed to my brother when recieving the news that he was going to celebrate Norway's Independence Day with our parents and me. First time we're all gathered since Christmas.
The multitude is flowing ahead
Teeming with dreams and hope
Crammed, with little place to move
There is dearth of space in the mind
Physically, we are reaching fatigue
What do we have for choice?
The power to choose is taken away
Our choices influenced by publicity
Duplicating a parallel world of feel good
Yet, deep down we are queasy
Something is not right, not identifiable
Blinded by the dazzles of show- biz
As if, all the actors are being directed
Chosen to play a role, not ours to choose
Memorizing written scripts, to deliver
Speeches which are not ours, we feel
Our dreams invaded, and manipulated
Our originality, suppressed in the makeup
Masquerading, our inner thoughts and ideas
Repeating the same role everyday
Delivering the scripted dialogues
Keeping in mind that we are here for audience
Our originality and individuality torn apart
Our original script has gone down the shredder
Who has the energy to pick up the pieces?
To join, the strewn dreams and live in a new way
We are just a created avatar, directed, indirectly
Of what we love, wear, eat, and live our life
Swept away by the waves of multitude
Individuality is relegated to the dark confines
Where can we start searching, our real counterpart?

Don't Drink The Kool-Aid

Don't drink the Kool-Aid
That's a phrase you'll sometimes hear
It means don't believe every word
And don't live your life in fear

Don't walk around with blinders
Try to see the other side
You can listen to what others say
But make up your own mind

You do not have to follow
When someone makes a stand
There are many different points of view
Each side must get a chance

Your opinion may just matter
To no one else but you
The experience of a persons life
Creates their point of view

So don't drink the Kool-Aid
You can't believe all that you hear
Dont trust someone blindly
And don't live your life in fear

Don't drink the Kool-Aid

Carl Joseph Roberts
December 2013
For all the younger poets who may not know this. The phrase Don't drink the Kool-Aid was started because of the November 18, 1978 massacre when 918  people who were followers of preacher Jim Jones who while at a religious compound in Guyana drank Kool-Aid or a flovored drink laced with cyanide. It is believed that for many of these followers the drinking of this poison was voluntary.  Followers believed this one man so much that they were willing to give their own children poison. Since then this phrase has gained acceptance as meaning dont follow blindly.

My first withdraw.
Love.
I felt I would die.
He was my life.
Didn't think I would make it.
Then I found.
My second withdraw.
Alcohol.
Drank everyday.
Didn't no my way.
Everything seemed the same.
Then I thought I found away.
My third withdraw.
Oxy's.
It was a easy drug.
All you had to do was crush.
It made the pain.
Fly away.
Know that I'm clean.
I hope things can change.
I'm done with the withdraw and the pain

I might not answer your call
I'm still a little lost
I want this to be true.
But I'm falling through.
I can't just wait.
If this is fake
I really thought it would be true.
And I would end up with you!!
But i could of made  a mistake.
That I will have to repay.
At the end of the day.
But I will pray.
That god keeps you away.
Away from all the things that can change your ways.
Please don't say.
I love you babe.
Till we have a whole day.
To say
Our true ways.

I wish you where growing up in peaceful world.
But everyone has to much hate
I wish you didn't have to live in fear.
But everyone seems to scared
I wish you didn't have to go through being poor.
But there are to many people in This world.
I wish I could say it willnt always be this way
But there will never be better days.
I wish people would change there ways
But its to late.
To my kids. This world is going down hill. And it hurts me that my children have to live through it.

Our worlds are so different
but every now and then we take a few moments to ourselves
creating something thats all our own
a simple look
a soft touch
you trace my spine
and i feel your lips shaking on the back of my neck
my fingers running down your chest
i never mind giving everything to you
you pull me in closer
the silence is embraced
these are the times im happy when everything is left unsaid
