When you see her cry
     you get a rag,
a gentle delicate cloth.
                                        Lovingly grasp her hand
                                               and dab its tip;
dry each tear as they come.
                                                                                          And ask each drop
                                                                                               why it'd leave
                                                                                          such beautiful eyes.

  If she wishes
to be in the sky,
  tell her to go.
                              Take the sun ransom,
                              and replace its shining
                                    with her own.
So you can see her every morning
                                                                                   and wish for her
                                                                                  return each night.

When you see her scars
  both visible and non-
    touch each gently.
                                             And remind her
                                       that each and every hurt
                                            she has survived,
                                                                                        has only made her
                                                                                   that much more unique;
                                                                                       that much stronger.

  Show her that she
  is a special person
and is worthy of love.
                                     That she deserves the love
                                            she fears to give...
                                            show her so that
                                                                                 one day after you're gone
                                                                                  she can find the strength
                                                                                    to go on without you.

    Tell her that while
she might not be a goddess
far above worldly desires,
                                          that she is amazing,
                                         for just being herself
                                    for being that beautiful girl
                                                                               who thinks herself damaged
                                                                                  when in truth she's just
                                                                                a different kind of beautiful.

   And finally, love her.
Like a boy loves a girl
Till she finally remembers
                                            that that's what she is:
not a scar, not a goddess,
not a star. But a girl.
                                                                                    That deserves to be loved.
In this very moment
I am free
I no longer regret
the past nor obsess
about the future

Today is a gift
A free gift
I get to keep by
giving it away

Don't make me know your routine
Don't make me love your routine
Don't make me part of your routine
And then stop

Once it's part of me

It would be so out of character
To treat people how they treat me

But oh how sweet
Revenge could be
Forget his name
Forget his face
Forget his kiss
His warm embrace
Forget the love that you once knew
Remember that he has someone new
Forget him when they played your song
Remember him when you cry all night long
Forget how close you once were
Remember its someone else he perfers
Forget how you memerized his walk
Forget how you love to hear him talk
Forget the things he use to say
Remember that he has gone away
Forget his laugh
Forget his smile
Forget that he stayed awhile
Forget the way he held you tight
Remember that hes not alone tonight
Forget the time he loved you still
Forget he said he always will
Forget he said he'll leave you never
Remember the fact, hes gone forever

Naive, I was not. I grew up
on tattered books and nihilistic ideals
while the other children read
books about stuffed bears and trees.

They warned me about the addicts:
The fiends with black capes and red eyes,
the ones who wander the night, searching
for new corners and new highs.

They warned me about the *** offenders:
The neighborhood sweethearts with soft eyes
and cold hands, who are more often than not,
but not restricted to the body, of middle-aged men.

They warned me about the murderers:
The ones with ice for pupils and books of spells.
Who drank smoke and whose hearts reside
in the far off corner somewhere in east hell.

These are the people my parents forgot to warn me about:
The lovers with a knack for spoon feeding me lies, whose
wings were black and who were blessed
with golden eyes.

They didn't warn me about the pretty boys.
About the ones who cup your heart
in their hands, and play around with it like putty.
Somehow, they forgot to mention that part.

But, then again, you can't teach a child about heartache,
and the only way a child will know what you mean when you
tell them that the stove is hot is if they burn themselves
on the warm, steel door that is life.
******, but...

I let my mind escape
It's what's needed

But something continues to stay
I try to forget but you don't let that happen
You creep up
You stay there
It's not what's needed

But then I let my mind escape into what could be
You continue to stay there

So I let my mind escape

open road
shining sun
a glorified affair

grass so green
skin so tan
hands running through hair

wind whispering
kissing, tickling
as they start to become bare

fear so strong
love so wrong?
far from despair
