I watched you out in the open
Staring at nothing
Mouth sewn shut
Eyes glazing at the world.

Your beautiful face
For once is not comical,
When I so badly want it to be.

The roots are climbing up your body,
Keeping you firm on the ground.
Now you can't run to me,
Hug me, Kiss me
Or tell me you love me.

Tears run down my eyes
As my feet carry me towards you.
I run my hands along your body,
Feeling only fabric,
No sign of life in you.

If you knew I was there
You showed no emotion of it.
I bite my lip as I watch you,
Watch you ignore me,
Like I wasn't crying for you.

I wrap my arms around your stiff body,
Feeling my heart race,
But yours still.

Do you not love me any more?
Do you not feel the same?
Please talk to me,
I miss you so much.

I'm sorry for erupting into an angry mess,
I'm sorry for taking it out on you.
I'm sorry if I was not good enough,
But I promise you I will.
Please don't give up on me,
I still love you.

Time ticks by,
But your eyes are still black buttons,
And your mouth is still stitches,
Your body is still sewn fabric,
And your voice is still silent.

I cannot bear the truth,
It hurts for it to sink in.
I don't want it to be true-
Please, tell me it isn't.

But as the seconds go by,
And you don't respond,
I realize that I cannot do anything about it.
It must be true.

You've turned Scarecrow on me.

you meant a lot to me until
I realized your body runs cold.
you meant a lot to me until
I recognized the ways you are bold.
you meant a lot to me until
I heard the number of times your voice cracks throughout the day.
you meant a lot to me until
you spoke of things you were initially afraid to say.
you meant a lot to me until
I saw the way you laughed.
you meant a lot to me until
I saw some of your chosen paths.
you meant a lot to me until
you told me the secrets you forgot to keep inside.
you meant a lot to me until
I stood by you while you cried.
you meant a lot to me until
I heard the mistakes you made in the past.
you meant a lot to me until
I discovered how different you were from the last.

you meant a lot to me until
all your flaws were laid out to see.
but after all this time I've realized
you don't mean a lot,
you mean everything to me.

Has anyone seen Mrs. Budge around today?
My, my, you just never know what she'll say
Everyone knows her by the stories she tells
not to mention her unique smell
a mix of moth *****, and gourmet soup
she built her own chicken coop
raised nine kids on a farm
made all their clothes from her yarn
After that she built a barn
where she kept her honey bee's
to pollenate all her orchard tree's
she put up pears in the fall
after that I heard she got a call
to sell her canned pears in a fancy mall
I hope that I'm like her at 93
they finally found her in an apple tree
laughing upside down on a tire swing
singing joyfully to her honey bee's.

You hold grudges,
as if you've
never wronged anyone
yourself

You bear grudges,
as if you
don't know how
much it hurts
to have one
against yourself

Remember what you've done
Remember how it feels

You like my pretty words wrote down on paper all for you
But do you like my thoughts and words that come out of my mouth instead?
You think I have a pretty face
Do you think I have a pretty heart?
You tell me to head east, then you start to head west
I try to follow but the path gets too dark
Did you turn off the light?
Left me cold and with a mark
I searched and searched but I still could not see
Was your back turned to me?
You ran and ran and dropped to her feet
"I love you to the moon and back" you said
"I love you too" she replied
But really she lied
How could you really love another when your heart is made of thunder
2 weeks later they were outside
"Look at the moon and how it only shines for you"
"I don't really like the night sky" was all she replied
