The bear hibernates
The trees rest from feeding leaves
Winter is for rest

I'm at that point again
When all I want to do is sleep

My eyelids feel constantly heavy
And my body continuously aches

My emotions are dormant
And my smiles are fake

I'm just going through the motions
I feel pointless, a waste of space

I've been here before, I know
But I don't remember what changed

Warmth

Warmth
What a great feeling.
The same sensation of those sweet orange rays of the sun.
When the sun rises is brings warmth to all its searching beams touch.
Warmth is the subtle heat from a campfire.
When you and  friends are roasting mallows.
Warmth is not only physical
Is it also emotional
Warmth is when somebody is kind to you.
Like giving you a hug on a bad day.
Warmth may come from a significant other.
Maybe when they hold your hand
Maybe when they say the three magic words "I love you."
Warmth is also when you do the same kindness for others.
Not only will you be the warmth in someone else life.
You might add a little sunshine to yours as well in return.
This warmth physical and mental keeps us toasty
in this otherwise bleak and cold world.
May your day be full of sunshine and happiness.
I had to go free-verse on this one. There are words that rhyme with warmth but I couldn't think of any at the time. :)

champagne gleams in starlight
encapsulating souls of the ocean
weave through the coral maze
shades of the setting sun
shoot across the sky
golden eyes engulf a mind so alive

Another poem about my trip to Puerto Lindo, Panama, last summer. My grandmother-in-law loves my poetry, so she requested that I write something about the trip and read it to everyone on our final day there, and this is what I came up with.

Liz And Lilacs
There are monsters in this world.
They just aren't what we thought
when were young and innocent.
Their sly smiles and coy grins
are not pointy toothed and rotten.
Their teeth are white and straight
and you can never see their true intentions.
Shadowed minds and twisted souls
do not reflect on the outside anymore.

It's amazing how
a simple tune,
a melody,
can carry so many memories.

Even after all these years,
I heard Our Song
and my heart started to race,
the same way it did when you would look at me
or call me "dear"...

And even though we're distant now,
it's like I can still feel
the touch of your skin,
soft and warm against mine,
before everything fell apart.

I wish we still talked,
I wish we kept in touch,
I wish I hadn't said the things I did,
But it's gone and in the past.

I have no regrets.
And no matter what,
you'll always have a part of me...

and I'll always remember you.
"I will love you now and forever."

You think you're so cool...
Bad boy, detached.
Nobody knows you
like you know yourself.
Leather jacket, crooked grin.
Only few deserve it.
Pocket-watch, single hoop earring.
Vintage, vintage...
How did you get so great?
Perhaps you stole the lost souls
of fragile beauties.
Perhaps you aren't so great after all.
Perhaps...
Or maybe
you just got so sick of hating yourself,
that you decided
to hate everyone else instead.
Maybe...
Or it's possible
that you lost your own soul
in the eyes of a fragile beauty...
And it's possible
that you're too far gone
to be saved.
Literally just wrote this on the spot. I don't know.

Just like a maelstrom heading to the sea
Living my life both quiet and alone
My life, my times, in her head should not be
Still she comforts as if for years she’s known
How can she understand my bittersweet
Laments, residing deep within my soul
Comfort and hope I see when our eyes meet
She pulls me out of my deeply dug hole
Refuting my love in rejection kind
Instead insisting that she loves us all
The kind hearted heart to whom my mind pined
The foreknown knowledge caused my hope to pall
Despite whatever it is that she rends
The damage is never what she intends
