I am sorry to seem so
callous when you call out
in your sleep but i am weary
unto death of pain

addicted to sickness i watch
your breast rise and
fall fall fall
i too fall into your ****** dream
candy colored visions in the dark night

(what is it you dream of
my love, my beloved
my death and my life
my life begins and ends
with each slow breath)

and christmas betokens
an end to these quiet rooms
this eternity of fits and starts
your breath like a spidery leaf
drifting in the winter breeze

tell your god good show
good show old man if
not for the pain i would
never have known he was ever here

Time goes by swiftly
but I remember it well...

For daddy would walk down
with a fun tale to tell...

I WONDER WHAT TALE MY DAD WOULD TELL NOW. DAD WAS A DEMOCRAT, MOM A REPUBLICAN.  I NEVER REMEMBER HEARING THEM TALK POLITICS. I REMEMBER THINKING, I HOPE  DAD WINS CAUSE JFK IS CUTE...***!

I would put on the coffee
and we would sit out back...

At the table he made us
for enjoying our snacks...

WHAT WOULD DAD THINK ABOUT SO MANY COFFEE FLAVORS, AND SO SO MANY DIFFERENT BEERS. I KNOW HE WOULD SHAKE HIS HEAD IF HE KNEW I HAD FATHEAD BUMBLEBERRY BEER IN MY FRIG.

Now daddy and hubby
are no longer around...

But I think of them daily
I can almost hear the sound...

Of them laughing and talking
I wish they were still around...

ONCE I WAS YOUNG AND BEING A MOM , POLITICS WAS THE FARTHEST THING FROM MY MIND.  NEVER HAD TELEVISION ON EXCEPT MAYBE CAPTAIN KANGAROO OR BARNEY FOR THE KIDS.

Remember time goes by swiftly
take time to play...

Enjoying each other
and each and every day...

IT'S A NEW TIME IN LIFE, AND IF YOUR LUCKY LIFE GOES ON. WE AS AMERICANS HAVE TO STICK TOGETHER AND THINK POSITIVE. NO MATTER IF YOUR RED OR BLUE SUPPORT YOUR NEW PRESIDENT.
What would dad think? This is now a changed world....from politics, to beers...

.
Times like these...
Just make you want to get up and run.

Forget the ache in your knee,
forget the weight on your back.
Forget the problems in your pocket,
forget the secrets in your sack.

Times like these...
Just make you want to dive deep.

Forget the myth of what lurks below,
forget the cautionary voices in your head.
Forget the whispers of restraint,
forget the monsters under your bed.

Times like these...
Just make you want to take off and fly.

Forget the wings that remain invisible,
forget the winds which refuse to carry.
Forget the bottom that awaits you,
forget the beckoning arms of gravity.

And take that leap into
the great unknown...

Yesterday morning I woke at 4AM again
And once more my mind got churning.
I juggled with some words in my head,
Composing free verse on how I write my poems.

I wondered whether I should grab a pad
And write.
Or even get on my laptop.
But I made myself go back to sleep,
Forgetting it all.

So here I am,
A day later at 10.30AM,
Pouring out these verses:
A sort of Stream of Consciousness.

No thought of structure
Or metre
Or rhyme.
Just emphasising certain words and phrases
By giving them separate verses
Of their own.

Something I learnt once
When reading a book in Pudsey Library
About how to teach kids to write poetry
An easy way.

Unfettered by considerations of metre or form,
You can express yourself freely,
As deep as you wish.

Just let your emotion
Or Philosophy
Run free.
Let your words cascade
Over those shiny pebbles.
Babbling along through winding willows,
To crash over waterfalls
In a crescendo of sound.

A stream that sparkles in the light
Of sun or moon (and stars),
Wafted by scents of abundant flowers
And sappy cut grass.
God's Grandeur radiating all around.
Enjoy.

'Twas the night after Christmas and I lay curled up in bed
With my hair wild and frizzy and my face a bright red
I had cleaned and scrubbed floors, I had cooked and I'd baked
I had done what I could; made curries and cakes
I had gifted many presents and received many too
From books and lip colours to green socks and red shoes
I had prayed and thanked God for his love and kind ways
I had prayed for mankind and for happier days
But something was still missing - I felt it in the lull
I felt restless and edgy, a wee lost, a tad dull
I thought and I pondered - then it dawned upon me
I was missing my poet friends, and writing poetry -
So I wrote this little poem to send love across the seas
Prosperous and healthy may you all always be
I wish you much happiness, peace, hope and light -

And now to the West I wish a good day, to the East a good night.
I thank all the wonderful poets here for their support and encouragement. Thank you. Happy New Year! **

Here the coldness of space enters our bones
-the night open to the far distant flung Universe.
How fragile and puny our bodies and minds grasp
-on the distances that reach down across the vastness.
Tipped away from the Sun here in the north
-our days few hours of light swallowed by the dark.
We shiver huddled around our hearths meagre warmth
-deep into the ancient blackness cold as centuries old dead stars.

There are rocks
With your finger prints on them

There are places
With the color of your eyes
Burning them down

There are memories
I wanted to last forever

There is pain
In the end of a needle
Just as there is love
In all people

There is a body
With your name
Your finger prints
Your colors
But no you.
