Jesus.
Lover of my soul.
Teach me to run
into Your arms.
Teach me to come to You.
And never let go.
Let me not be as
the horse or the mule.
Who need bit and bridle.
Or they will never come near.
Break me, Lord.
Of my stubborn, wayward,
idolatrous ways.
Let me love You enough
that my heart breaks
at the mere thought.
Of causing You grief.
Oh, may the thought
of that
bring me to my knees.
May it cause me to turn
from my rebellious ways.

Make me willing to come
to You, Jesus.
And run far away from rival lovers.
Let it not take You thrusting
the bridle of discipline on me.
For me to choose the path of life.
May every broken cistern I hew out.
Leave me so thirsty.
That I will more.
And more.
Come near.
To Thee.
"Do not be like the horse or like the mule which have no understanding, whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check, otherwise they will not come near to you." ---Psalm 32:9, Holy Bible
I
Sinner
Saved
Am a subject
Of an *Intrusion of light
There's no reason
To suffer loss.
Jesus died at such a cost.
Go to His feet
Upon the cross
Be refined.
Remove the dross.
Though by the waves
You're turned & tossed
It is horrendous
To be lost.

You endure and wonder why.
You suffer storms
And glowering skies
You see your loved ones
Leave & die.
You think you're free...
It's all a LIE
All the while
You weep & cry
Life is short
It's just a sigh...

Why have this hardship
All for naught?
Things aren't pointless
As you're taught!
Try to give this
Poem thought...

If you're born of God
You have a choice
Hear this message!
Hear my voice!
Forsake transgression
Every vice
You may want to
Read this twice.

We're beset by enemies
Who will do
Just as they please
We may burn
We may freeze
We may get sick
To cough & wheeze
We are beset
By some disease
But there's a mindset

And it FREES!

I'm talking now
To those elect
I hope it is
Of some effect
It will help in all respects!
Satan's power is inept!
You are GOD'S
And you are kept.

If you are His
You are His prize!
Don't listen to
All Satan's lies
Be circumspect
Be ye wise
Know God's power
Sanctifies

You will endure
All kinds of trials
Burning flames
High & wild!
God's not always
Soft & mild
He will chastise
A wayward child!

For that furnace
Burning flames
Burns the dross from
Those ashamed
This is no joke!
It's not a game!
You have God's calling...
BLESS HIS NAME!

He will heat you
Young or old
He will heat you
Weak or bold
He will refine you
Just like gold.

But there's a purpose
To the pain
To this fate we are constrained
So our love cannot be feigned!

But

He catches tears
Which fall like rain...

Of this fact you can be sure.
It will help you to endure.
He wants His Bride
To be pure.

When he sees
Your metal shine
Pure of body... Pure of mind
And to your mirror
He's inclined

He will see your
Beauty. Grace.
Because He'll see

HIS PERFECT FACE.

I have been doing a Bible study with a dear friend and sister in Christ. Because I have been enduring so many trials, we've been studying Romans 8. And many other scriptures, too many to mention here. But the study has been all about why Christians have to endure such suffering. This world, when it fell, became cursed. Everything changed. Adam had to work the soil by the sweat of his brow, and Eve had to give birth with much pain and hardship. The ground was cursed. Evil things came on to the world. And evil men and women. There is no avoidance of this fact. One must face it. But facing it with joy is a completely different thing. There is only one way to be joyful in this life while facing great hardship. God. The Father Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus sent a comforter to help us through the agony of life. The Holy Spirit also bestows wisdom so we can sometimes avoid some of the pitfalls that may beset us.  The Holy Spirit knows all things. So you can have words of knowledge. I have experienced this. I've known things that there was no way I could have even extrapolated them. I don't know if there is this certain power that Satan can give people too. I imagine so since he can approximate everything God does. But there is a huge difference between divination and words of knowledge. Anyway, back to my point. The Holy Spirit also comforts. If you keep your eyes on God, Jesus, as you're going about your day, facing the struggles that you have head on, you will find that the tasks you have and all the insults to your Humanity will be unable to distress you. You will find patience in all things. And you will find joy and peace. if you lean on God and do everything unto Him, you will be much happier!

It's the difference between passing a kidney stone and birthing a baby. When your time of pain and sorrow is done, you have something to be joyous about! It's the difference between hard labor doing a senseless task and building a bridge. You have hope and joy of the other side of that construct! And what is the other side of the bridge for us believers? Heaven. And the Glorious Prospect of being with Jesus for all eternity. Having glorified bodies that will never get sick or be in pain. We will never grow old and we will never cry. What a glorious thing! but my favorite Prospect is Jesus. I can hardly wait for his return! I just don't want to be embarrassed about my service here on Earth. I want to hear him say,

"Well done good and faithful servant!"

Amen? ...AMEN!!!

I just want to thank everybody who's been reading me. The response to my poetry has been awesome! I thank you all!

I'm going to be reading tonight, God willing.
May He bless you all until then!
Jesus you asked your disciples: who do people say that I am? There were many different answers. You asked your disciples: who do YOU say that I am? Peter replied "You are Jesus the Christ. The savior." A good answer, but then when you talk about your death and what you must suffer and Peter rebuked you for saying such outrageous things, you scolded him for thinking as we humans do, not as God thinks. Then you said that to lose your your life for Christ and the gospel, you would gain eternal life in heaven, but those who love their lives would lose them. That in order to follow you we must deny ourselves and take up our cross. You said what profit is there to gain the whole world but lose our lives? For what can we give in exchange for the value of our lives?

Jesus, who do we say you are? Who are you to us? Forgive us, like Peter, when we get upset with you when bad things happen because we think not as God thinks but as humans think. We don't always see the bigger picture and purpose. When you said "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me" you were saying that we must cast off our old self, old habits and ways. We must carry our burdens (our cross) which create a way to connect to each other and to you. "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it." We must learn how to live selflessly and we must be willing to die to ourselves. If we lose or give up our old life for the sake of replacing it with a life for Jesus and the good news we will have eternal life. You remind us and warn us that the things of this life, their value could never come close to the value of our souls. You remind us not to fall victim to loving the riches of this earthly life more than we ought to love you and being with you forever one day. Finally, you tell us to be unashamed of Christ and the message and to share it with all we meet in a gentle and loving manner. We should not be worried about what others will do or say because it matters not as long as we are doing it with a right heart for you and the gospel. Thank you Lord for being our Savior, help us to die to the old ways that we might truly live with you. Give us the strength and courage to be unashamed of the gospel message and you so that we might bring another heart to you. Amen.
based on Mark 8: 27-38
On a barren hill some Romans planted a barren tree. Rugged and stripped of it's dignity, the tree bore fruit you see. The seed was with in it, though it had no branches or boughs. The blossoming of eternal life is what grew. Between two other trees precious blood was spilled, oh what a harvest it did yield. When they cut it down, it began to spread, the roots of the tree went beyond the barren hill into eternity. It brought forth salvation you see and produced the Rose of Sharon that bled for you and me.
Prayer For Called and Gifted

Jesus you are the savior of the world author of salvation and creator of the universe and all good things. We are so small and frail and yet in your goodness you saw it fit to give us so much and to raise us up to more than we can be. You bestowed on your people different, beautiful gifts and call us to use them for others and for you. You have called us each by name and given us unique gifts, each with an integral part to play. You have given us a purpose and a reason. You have given us a passion for life. We are called to be beacons of hope, bearers of light. As wheat only produces fruit once it dies, may we also die to the things that hold us back from experiencing the fullness of your love for us. Help us Lord to be good stewards of the gifts you give so abundantly and so freely that we would be diligent, responsible, and humble as we try to live your love out in the world. You said to your apostles: "Go forth and make disciples of all nations; proclaiming the gospel by your lives and baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit". Lord, bless the people in this room; send your Holy Spirit and let it come to rest in our souls. Guide and lead and teach us along the journey of life to use our gifts that you gave us "for the greater glory of God". Just as we pray for ourselves Lord, we also pray for all those in the church and throughout the world that you would help them realize and utilize what they have been given to make this world a little better and to further your kingdom right here and now. May we all be a "blessing for life and a blessing for Christ"! We ask this and all things in your most beautiful and precious name. AMEN.
Prayer i wrote for Called and Gifted program at my church, but this poem is really for everyone.
From the cup of redemption I shall partake. Through the true vine I shall be pressed in the vat. The wine of mercy shall flow from the grapes of the cluster that comes from the vine of salvation. Grafted into the vineyard as a wild cutting, I was made part of the true vine. By the hand of the husbandman who keeps the vineyard, shall the new wine be pressed. From the cup of this I shall partake in remembrance of he that died and was resurrected. I shall drink of the vine at his table, when he returns to bring salvation to me.
Jesus, I trust in you! Jesus, I trust in your Divine Providence. Allow me to be open enough to allow you to work and move in and through me.

Jesus, I trust in you! Jesus, I trust in your Divine Will in my life. Help me to follow and walk with you especially when I cannot feel you near or see the path before me.

Jesus, I trust in you! Jesus, I trust in your Divine Joy. Guard me to remain ever joyful and kindle in me to look at life with childlike faith and joy.

Jesus, I trust in you! Jesus, I trust in your Divine Peace. In a world with chaos and commotion at every side, remind me of the peace I find when I focus on you.

Jesus, I trust in you! Jesus, I trust in your Divine Mercy and Grace. I don't deserve it and can't earn it, but you give it anyway. Help me thank you by doing the same for others.

Jesus, I trust in you! Jesus, I love you! Jesus, I adore you! I need not fear because Jesus you are FOR me.

Jesus, I trust in YOU!

AMEN

(Jesus) You Are

You are a light in the darkness and hope in despair

You are a friend when it seems no one else cares

You lift me up when I am down, you are strong when I am weak

When I am scared and alone it is you that I seek

It is you that I run to or sometimes just crawl

When it's too much to bear and I can't carry it all

You take it away or give me grace and strength to endure

Nothing will happen today that you and I can't handle together I am assured

I trust you Lord, but I often doubt

Sometimes I wish you wouldn't whisper, you'd shout

My faith, like young legs, are eager but unsteady

You tell me to take a leap of faith and fly, but I'm not sure I'm ready

You are the wind beneath my wings

You lift me up so I can soar

In you I experience what true joy and peace brings

I live like the mountains grounded yet reaching

Like the mighty trees who drop roots to drink deep of life giving springs

Help me thirst mightily for your teachings and the water of life

You are my healer when I'm injured, a sword to help me fight

You go before me as a shield you're angels guard me through the night

Sometimes I can't understand the wisdom of your plan

I am small and I am only one and I don't know that I can

The future is uncertain and I don't know what's in store

But Jesus be my shepherd and I'll want for nothing more

AMEN
