Regret,
Lingers like the taste of an old cigarette.
Regret,
The one thing you'll never let yourself forget.

I lost a part of myself
The day you walked away from me.
The part that loved,
The part that felt.

I used to love the bay where we watched the sunset,
now it's polluted with
sickly sweet people with their hands intertwined
with people they think they love.

We used to listen to John Mayer on the stereo
every night before we sleep,
I traced endless patterns on you bare chest,
your fingers tangled in my messy curls,
now I hate his songs because they remind of you,
so and so that they make me cry.

You used to take me to long drives
in midnight,
now you made me an insomniac who
wants nothing to do with the midnight
because it's when memories of you haunt me.

You took from me
A part I'm never getting back,
A part that took more than half of my being.
Because now I realized,
once you were gone,
I was also gone.

Know You

I want to know you.
The inner depths of your preeminent soul.
The catastrophy of thoughts that reigns your mind.
The inner galaxy of emotions that consumes you every night.
What excites you?
Moves you?
What makes you feel alive?

Her legs were determined to never tremble again,
Her breath was never shallow since that day,
She no more thought about her agonizing pain,
The price for someone’s cowardice, she would never pay.

The words unsaid, were no more hidden in her heart,
She spoke freely; her thoughts had gained wings,
A soul without fear, her spirit was ready for a new start,
She was at last, herself, a human, among other human beings.

Strings of hopelessness with which she was tied,
Were, by her soul’s fiery rage, torn,
That day, with sheer shame, a victim died,
With a new cry of vigour, a fighter was born.
This poem is a tribute to women globally. They are human beings with the heart of the Almighty. Such women are now recognising their identity and emerging as stalwarts of strength and compassion. I salute you, women!

Why?

I don't know who you are anymore. You're constantly gone and never heard from. You promise you'll stay, you promise you'll be there for me, you promise you'll see me soon and that you'll keep in touch. After several failed attempts of trying to talk to you, you finally call after two long months. You need a ride, you're in another state, and you have a pound of heroine on you. I refused and you scream and yell and insult me. If you had any idea how you made me feel, I'd hope you'd be ashamed of yourself. You said things that you meant and I'm insecure about. The thoughts that you made me have when you said them are scary. You aren't who I thought you were, I thought you were nice and understanding but you've turned bitter and nasty. You aren't the person you used to be and I miss that person so ******* much I can't explain it in words. But yet you still put yourself through this hell. And for what? Why?

Once, there was a boy, who played the guitar so well,
              he played love songs
And all of his friends would sing along,
just because… he played so well
And he drew people alone and showed them to his friends,
And they would tell him how good he was,
               but needed improvements
And he’d nod with approval
And he stared at a girl at school from a distance
but the girl wouldn’t look back
And he told his friends he had asthma,
               so all of them knew
and everyone was there for him

One day, in an open field, he played the guitar again,
               he played songs about friendship
And almost all of his friends sang along,
               and he played really well
The next day, he drew alone again and showed it to his friends,
And his friends would say how he did improve,
               but needed more of it
And he’d nod with a smile
And he’d look at the girl at school from a distance
but the girl was already looking at him
Occasionally, his breathing got harder,
               his friends would worry
so he would be sent home earlier

In school, his friends sang on stage while he played the guitar,
they sang a song about misery
And the audience would sing along,
even though, they didn’t sing so well
And he drew other things and showed them to his friends,
And his friends would tell him he drew things better than people,
and told him to draw more things
And he’d nod satisfied
And the girl he gazed from a distance fall in love with him
so he asked her to be his girlfriend
He knew how to deal with his asthma
so it’s not much of a problem
even though they’re not always there

After graduation, he’d play the guitar alone sometimes,
he played songs for his friends
And he’d imagine them sing along,
and loved it even they didn’t sing so well
And he stopped drawing because there was no one to show them,
And no one would tell him what he should do next
               and he missed them
He was alone all the time
And his girl, like his friends, was also busy and they were rarely together
he was more alone than ever
At seven o’clock in the morning, his asthma attacked,
the worse kind, so he didn’t knew how to deal with it
nobody was there to help him
And on his last breath,
he was more alone than ever…

This is for a friend who just passed away. You'll be remembered, bro...

burned up
I fell in love with a boy
that is too good for me
And I did not mean to do it
but as I sat back to watch the world move around me
He caught my eye
and tugged on my heartstrings
until I was up and walking behind him
And he knows what he's doing to me
He watches me trail behind and he smiles
but he does not do it out of malevolence
Because his lips are so sweet
that if they were to ever come across poison
it would immediately become its own antidote
He has a genuine love for everyone he meets
So there's nothing special about the way he hugs me
or brushes my hand when we eat together
Because he's like that with everyone
Because he has sincere kindness in his heart
This boy
who is better than I could ever be
has trapped me in a never ending cycle of infatuation
He seems to pull me forward with arms that could move mountains
and hands that could part seas
And I keep begging him to let me go
But I'm the only one holding on
