can you honestly
tell me that you are better
than anyone else

“You can turn away”, he says
as he sets the bowl and scalpel
on the tray next to my bed.
I wince, obligingly
lower my head,
but as the blade digs in
I watch him work,
painstaking.
Extracting one shard
at a time from my arm:
pincering it out, spluttered with blood
catching a glimpse of the glint, like a flash,
before glass hits tin.

No tears then, only after,
when he stares and says:
“You won't do that in a hurry again.”

Sampaguitas to fragrance her mane
She whispereth sir Brandon;
Mine husband
Mine king.

ii.

I layeth down the counterpane
frankincense and myrrh aligned;
Tea candles surrounding ourn jungle
Of a bedspread romantic design.

iii.

Tis we loseth, track of all time
She sloweth her breathing, I singeth for her, she smiles and sayeth it's pleasing; ourn heart's steadily yet quickly beating, as if we were drunkened off of lover's delight divine.

Sometimes
silence
is a gift
to be
savored.

i.

Settle me down
Tuck me in;
Kiss mine cheek
Put me to bed.

ii.

Closeth thy lid's
Then I'll closeth mine;
Goodnight mine Jane
Seeith thee in the morn'

iii.

Goodnight
O' here cometh the sun;
Awake, awake,
Mine chosen one.

I was high on flowers
But ready to inhale winter
Columbus sailed the ocean blue,
Only to not have a clue
Where the Indians were actually at.

Living in the summer sun
Emitting our life's breath
Autumn comes and you are gone
Falling to your death
