yes,
you can kiss
my rose petal eyelids
my stained cheeks
my humming neck
my willing waist
my burning skin
anywhere on
my restless body
but kiss my lips,
and I'll spend the
rest of my life
aching
grieving
searching for
your stinging tongue

  fate assured me
   we'd burn violently
    but ultimately suns die
     every flame grows tired
      every bulb will break
      every wick will drown
     charred and regretful
    weary and worn out
   drained of energy
  choking for air
i'm not ready
to ignite
just yet
it is inevitable

I wouldn't even recognize you,
nor you I.
How we have changed and grown,
how the years and loves
have formed us.
How the trials have toughened
or beaten us.

I hope you are well.

I hope that the world has not
stricken the love from you,
and that the lives which
surround you and which you surround
still smile upon your kind soul.

I hope you have not been beaten too much.

I hope you have faced down more trials
than have faced down you,
and that the things which you have conquered
have been strengthening instead of
diminishing to your spirit.

Of all hopes, I hope that you still
find a reason to smile
every day.

I really thought I knew
But I was sadly mistaken
The advantage over me
You had easily taken

The wool had completely
Covered my eyes
As I fell for all your excuses
Promises and lies

You were so dame convincing
Played the part so well
All the while pretending
And I could never even tell

Until the day you faltered
And let your true self out
I finally got a glimpse
Of what you were truly about

I couldn't really believe it
I didn't want it to be so
But now that you're exposed
I have no choice but to go

I will no longer be made
To look like a fool
And never forgive myself
For breaking my own rule

The rule most important
That was number one on my chart
To never completely give
Someone my fragile heart

It flies amongst the stars.
Flashes for a moment.
Despite the left scars.
Holds a place close, yet far.

It carries the fallen.
From mistaken paths.
To reaches impossible.
And develops new plans.

It creates new countries.
Raises dead soldiers.
Stamps unsung heroes.
With a feeling of free.

Hear its silent sound.
Open up your eyes.
Place it in your heart.
Elevate from the ground.

It helps us climb.
Better than rope.
Do you see its shape?
It is hope.

"Just Smile"

"You'd be prettier if you just smiled,"
they tell me.
What they don't know though
is every single time I've been told that,
my frown has etched itself deeper into my skin.
Maybe it will one day be so permanent
that I can't even fake a simple smile.
Have any other women (or men too, I know everything happens on both sides) gone through this?  Strangers, family, friends... it's all the same.

Have you ever thought about the word pain in painting? It’s amazing how you can take pain and make it into something so beautiful.
Painting is one of my favorite hobbies and it helps calm my mind when I feel pain.

Ink
I'm the author of my life,
but, unfortunately,
I'm writing in ink and can't erase my mistakes.
