my feet are freezing
and the smoke keeps
blowing back in my
face but that's not
going to stop me from
smoking this whole
pack of cigarettes
i'm only trying to
remove the taste of
your lips from mine
i'm only trying to
expell the poison you
breathed into my lungs
i'm only trying to
forget about you

my birthday is coming up
faster than ever and i've
been waiting for you to ask
me what i want or do i
feel older yet or what i'm
going to do but you
haven't said a word and i
guess i'm just getting
used to that

you taught me
that the saying
our grandparents
used
if it isn't broken
don't fix it

is obsolete
you taught me
your own version
*if it's broken
buy a new one

it's cold all the time
now and it's even
colder when i'm all
alone but i'm working
on warming up and
i'm working on
getting close and i'm
working on fixing
myself

they say
"boys don't like smokers"
as if it really matters
as if i care what boys think
as if i can quit just like that

Her voice is strained.
Her skin is fair.
Her ******* lay on the countertop.
I **** her until my thoughts stop.

She rejects the notion of love for all,
as she leans against my kitchen wall,
with a cigarette and an unbuttoned blouse-
she wants to be homeless in my house.

She keeps me in her necklace's locket,
and I keep her in the wallet in my pocket.
Her toes kiss the linoleum,
she walks like she's made of helium.

She mumbles that I taste like mint chocolate chip,
as she rubs against my hip.
Her breath smells like Malboro Lights,
and I hope she decides to stay the night.

Milky Ways and Vanilla Cakes,
she likes the way my body shakes,
as we lay and eat our troubles away.
Hurried words slow the day.

She asks me about my stretch marks and scars,
and if I've ever been hit by a car.
And I say no, but I've been hit by love before,
and it feels like getting your hand caught in a door.

Hurried smiles and bathroom stalls,
she likes the way my family never calls.
The words escape between her plump lips,
as my hand travels between her hips.

We move until we forget
that the world is moving faster.

he makes my
heart soar and
stomach flutter
he makes me
smile for hours
and laugh for days
he makes me so
happy
something you
never could
