When I write a love poem,
I make sure that it rhymes.
When I write a love poem,
I aim for her heart's chimes.
When I write a love poem,
I make sure to commit the crimes.
The crimes of loving truly,
And crimes of writing the truths.
The crimes of being lovely,
And crimes of romancing the youths.

My cute young daughter named Shatakshi
Asks, "Daddy-daddy what's this thingy?"
I, the caring father, with a gasp
Reply, "It is a fire ant that you grasp
And you hold where it has its stingy!"
A limerick for my future daughter, Shatakshi.

Another humorous poem. Another limerick.

Polished pedestal,
solid and steady.
Up you go, my dear;
get yourself ready.

I will gawk and stare;
kneel, praise and compare.

Until my knees bruise,
ego worse for wear,
eyes ache and vocal
chords all waste away.

So, tell me abou-
nevermind darling.
Your charcater is
near done constructing.
Why do I do this to myself?

I was a dreamer
you, a wanderer — you left
                 while I was asleep
We are like bread.
Bread has three irreversible modes:
dough, bread, and toast.
many things in life, if not
everything in life
have many different forms.
we are all in the different stages of bread
and yet
we criticise and judge ourselves
for moving and changing
and needing a new environment.
The suitable storage for dough
differs vastly to the suitable storage
for bread
and yet
we do not mock it
but facilitate it.
We could learn a thing or two
from bread.
I was thinking about the concept of toast while making croutons from stale bread today. It both baffled me and made me laugh a bit when I realized how heavily we judge ourselves for not being in the 'right' place. Whether that's not being where we want to be, where we thought we would be, or where we are. The thing we can learn from bread is that the right time will come around eventually- time just takes time. I'm not usually one for light-hearted or comical poetry but I hope this can make one person smile to themselves!

GODNYX
I watch her dance in the pale moonlight,
Her wild heart that never stays.
Yet for her, the world stands still,
Her sigh breaks men like me.

In every glance, in every sigh,
She holds the world beneath her eyes.
A gentle hand, a steady will,
And when she smiles, the stars ignite.

For love is her, and she is love,
And in her eyes, I see it clear
All that I want, and all that’s dear.
This is where the magic happens;
solitude is of utmost integrity.

If I were a dew;
I would be the most travelled.
If I were the grass;
I would be the most still.

I am a hermit, unaware about my surroundings;
knowing all is interconnected within.

I am lost and in that I found myself;
I belong nowhere and in that I became of the universe.
