The Beast broke free, love set him whole,
While I remain, a Phantom soul.
His curse was lifted, his heart now sings,
But my humanity only stings.

No mask of fur, no monstrous guise,
Just human hands and hollow cries.
A heart that yearns, a fate unkind—
A curse of flesh, a shattered mind.

The Beast found joy, his pain released,
But I, unmasked, am still the beast.

I broke the leash—
felt it snap between my teeth,
the metal biting deep into my skin,
but its absence leaves a weight
heavy on my heart,
as though I’ve lost a limb.
Still, I carry it.
Every step feels like I’m betraying
the creature I was meant to be,
but I move anyway.

Your collar is gone,
but its echo tightens my chest,
a phantom pressure,
reminding me that I was born
to seek your approval,
to obey your every call.
I run,
but every breath tastes of you,
your presence clinging to me
like smoke I can’t escape.

Your voice gnaws at my spine,
low and sharp,
its growl imprinted in my bones.
I feel you in every shadow,
in every gust of wind,
like a leash invisible but real.
I push forward,
but the past scratches at my heels,
its claws deep in my skin.

Still, I run—
not without cost,
but I claw forward,
defying every instinct bred into me.
Your shadow pulls at my heart,
but I do not stop.
The path is not easy,
but every step is a battle
I am learning to win.

And though you haunt me—
your name, your scent,
the chains of my past—
I know this:
I have broken free.
No collar, no leash,
no chains will hold me again.
I am no longer your dog.
I’m sorry if this is too long to read, but I feel deeply touched and truly appreciate all the support I’ve received in this community. It’s made me feel like I’m something in this world (even if just a small piece) recognized and valued. I feel blessed to write another part, one that I hope people can read and feel with me. Maybe it can even help others who are trying to break free, just like I did.
All these poems
My mind in turmoil
Yearning
Seeking rest

Snow today
My feet are cold
Loneliness
Qualyxian Quest

        do my best
If you stand strongly with and for Liberty
I will fearlessly join you
If you stand firmly for Freedom
I will cheer the noble gestures of your kingdom
If you stand enthusiastically for Equality
I will ecstatically stand with you too
If you stand for good democracy
I will help you spread the seeds of Love
I will happily clap when the doves are hovering above
If you stand solidly for fair and equal justice
I will help you ring the bells of peace
I will fervently pray for you all the time
I will sporadically listen to the tintinnabulation of the chime
Brothers and sisters, I have tears of hope in my eyes today
Otherwise
My pen is able and ready amidst the fray
And it won’t be so wise
Because I love my fellow human beings, our people
Who are black, red, white, yellow and purple.

P.S. This poem is dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and to our brothers and sisters.

Still waters run deep
But sometimes a puddle's
Just a puddle
Jimmy silker Jan 21
Is it the crack and report
As the hammer strikes true?
Or the spilt second scrape
Down the barrel ?
The discharge of gas
As the slug rips past?
Through the displacement o air
it does burrow
Is it the PEYANG! PATOU! Richocet
Of an old cowboy movie?
Or the acts of the Manson's
They thought that **** groovy?
Is it the swish as it grazes
A candidates ear?
Or the whimper of a victim
Rigid with fear?
