Ink
Dry ink in my head

I have no pen to write what must remain unsaid

caged words between my ears

imprisoned by frustrated tears of rage

that grow to fill a vast and empty page
With a hint of death
mingling in the air,
the nocturnal snapdragon is
digging wells,
not just for water,
but also as final resting
places for friends back home,
in the garden,
deep within the soil.

Callous hands and feet
speak of insufficiency
and misery under the sun,
the one lone solace comes
with night,
and the partaking of
her body's delicacies,
bringing her innumerably
to the helve,
as she sings heavenly things
about the architecture
we creatures fall
so easily from.
We fragile creatures are here for such a short duration. Make it meaningful.
Being called "cute"
Starts to sound like an insult.
The voices churning
Deep inside.my head
Are actually words
Waiting to
Get out
And recite
A poem
I thought I was through
And the day was over with
Then the words came in
Leave it blank
if you do not
know the answer-
not all questions need an explanation

Leave it empty
if you're no
longer thirsty-
give them a chance to fill their cups

Leave it opened
even if you knew
he wouldn't
come back-
someone more of worth might come in

Leave yourself
some precious space-
all queens have thrones to sit on
every season
of a tree
has a beauty all it's own

spring sprouts - blush of first love
summer lush greenery - the fullness of love
fall explosion of color - love burning itself out

but it is
this tree - winter tree - witch tree
that speaks to me most

your branches
spindly fingers
clearly reach
for your lover the sun

this tree - winter tree - witch tree

every cell
strains upward
wanting to be one
with the sun

this tree - winter tree - witch tree

raw skeleton exposed
loves first bloom long gone
longing for
your lover's touch

this tree - winter tree - witch tree

do you know
that your lover's skin
will set you both aflame
until her desire is quenched
and you are left
but ash and bone
do you care?

this tree - winter tree - witch tree

reaching ever upward
towards your love
wanting what you want
regardless the consequences
i try to walk each day. i often think about the trees and plants i see as i walk. today the trees, naked of their leaves, looked haunted and i couldn't get over how the branches reached for the sun. so much of the year we can't see that. the words "this tree - witch tree" kept going through my head as i walked. sometimes most of a poem will write itself as i walk, sometimes, just a phrase or idea, echoes in my mind.
