So, my love! come
and give me a hug,
or tug me in your mantle
like you do to the wind,

Take me with you
where you go
Inhaling me little by little,
And once I'm all spent,
breath in me life
with a KISS!

Clearly,
Without a denial of any
You had a hold of a string I've held so dearly
You weren't sure what it was
But you were certain--
You didn't have that
Kind of string

So you tug into it
And you tug into it some more
You tug it just enough to get a hold of a string I've held so dearly
I just have a few poems about sad, unrequited love I wrote some time ago and immediately thought it's kind of fitting to share them here now since the 14th is just around the corner.  Any feedback will be much appreciated, thanks!

A Saint Valentine’s Day Gift for my Daughter
                                Who Lives Far Away

Sunday Morning
Via electrical mail

Dear Child,

An agent of the federal government
May or may not deliver a package to you
Tomorrow, or not just one but maybe two
Or maybe one package at one time and

Maybe the second package at another
Or maybe there is only one package
Or maybe two, or, like Schrodinger's Cat
You may consider that there is a package

In your mailbox and be content with that
As a perception of reality

Love,

Your Old Dad
A poem is itself.

be mine

on this lovers day

red velvet russian roulette

and blood worn lingerie

our chaos swept the city

now a vacant town is our ballroom

the Romeo to my Juliet

“Where art thou?”

I know you hear me calling you.

No lock on the chains today
There is nothing left for you to say
Besides you can't put me on display
No way that I'll stay
Sound okay?

Pick the color, the style
Tell me to sit, stay a while
Wanting to go the extra mile
Not this time

Couldn't get me last time
Won't get me again
No matter the song or rhyme
The roses and then
The same old ****t
Year after year
Don't call me "dear"

Gifts and a meal
Won't make this dream of yours real
I won't play pretend
Can't this game just end?

Let me do what I please
Let me have a day of ease
Maybe sitting under the shade of trees
Enjoying the delicate breeze
Just let me seize
The day for myself
Instead of sitting quietly on a shelf

To my dad, and how every Valentine's day is his day. All I want is to do something for myself, something that makes me happy.

Today I received
A pocket-warmed Hershey kiss
Not permitted by the laws of veganism.
An obligatory Orange Crush from a friend
Only because I bought one for her.
A fresh wave of desire
The sun colored your hair golden.
A complimentary punch in the gut
That smile used to be reserved for me.
A dose of Focalin
To focus on something other than you.
Happy f*cking Valentine's Day

Today I put a Carnival to rest

When the World carousel

was Heading South

You Could Have Everyone

You wanted

But lips of Dear John

Were sweeter

When He was Dead

Long Live Love

Only Thing That Could

Ever Made Devil Cry

Sun Rose

You Could See the steeple of Hate

That They Made in your own image

By Sun Set

They Watched There Sin

Dying "Live"

Up on The Crucifie Channel

If Adam Knew

what would Happen

He would ****

That pregnant Girl Yesterday

She would Die to have her Baby

But The Day She Bite that Apple

She Gave Birth To Death

They Remember This Day

As Valentine's Day

They Remember This Day

As Valentine's Day

They Remember This Day

As Valentine's Day
They Remember That Day

As Valentine's Day
Zack Ripley Feb 2020
Dear fellow lonely hearts I will never know, as this Valentine's day rolls around, I just want to let you know...i love you.
There are universes in me
That I cannot show you
I want to tell you so many things
Whisper them in your ear

But as I sit alone at the dermatologist
At the appointment you promised me you’d come to
Scorned by your icy silence
On the Valentine’s Day you promised we’d celebrate

Empty promises, my heart, broken
I decide I cannot tell you
For now
It must stay hidden, deep

(Baby, if only you knew)
