Altogether on the boat.
The waves stood tall.
Not enough space on the boat to hold them all.

25 migrants promised new lives.
They left behind their children.
They left behind their wives.

The dream of prosperity.
The men set sail.
Turned into a nightmare did this sad and sorry tale.

5 died of hunger, 6 of dehydration.
A woeful situation.
No plan B or mitigation.

The men laid to rest at the bottom of the sea.
These were normal people like you and like me.

Looking for a better life.
It's all so terribly sad.
A wife missing her husband.
A child missing his dad.

The only ones to gain are the ones who sold the dream.
The ones who take blood money are never what they seem.

They take the hard earned cash from men who Want a better way of life. They care little for their children and care nothing for their wives.
RIP to all those brave African migrants who tried in vain to look for a better life and desperately tried to get to that place where an opportunity equals a lifeline for their family.

Our borders are shrinking. What does it take for a man to leave his family in search of a better life? I cannot imagine! The statistics are staggering and many lost lives go unreported.

Poignant given the terrible and shocking pictures shown worldwide of a little boy who had drowned and washed up on a Turkish beach. So so sad.

It's been 18 months since I wrote about you.
But just because my words stopped flowing,
And my eyes stopped crying,
Doesn't mean I stopped loving you.

It's been 18 months since I saw you last.
But just because we stopped talking,
And we stopped existing,
Doesn't mean I stopped loving you.

It's been 18 months since you passed away.
It's been 18 months of missing you.

'Tata Madiba'
Father of the Nation,
Today you could have been 97 years,
but your journey of life was cut so short,
21 years years of democracy is what we will all remember you with,
Nelson Mandela,
the great fighter,
you tought us to love and be in unity,
your works we shall remember,
may your dear soul rest in peace forever,
while we still hold on to 67 minutes of Madiba day,
showing our love and care for our great nation as much as you did,
we love you Tata,
we honour your legacy,
together we still can because of your great dids,
'Halala Madiba Halala!!'

She never knew being different could make you feel so alone
But she didn’t think she could help it even if she had known
They all say, “Be yourself, because there is no one better!”
But they knock her down every time she’s different from the others

Wherever she is, there’ll always be someone
Even when she became older, they’re never quite gone
Their words seem to get to her, eating on her bones
Refusing to give her back the pride that she once used to own

And her friends, they seemed like friends
But all the while it was just pretend
They left her because she was too much of a misfit
They’d rather be with someone from whom they can benefit

Now she miserably sits alone in her room by herself
How funny it is that they all say, “Be yourself!”
When she was herself, the world screamed at her
So what is the point anyway? It didn’t seem to matter

She left a goodbye note the night that she went
The next morning they found her, face down on the cement
Almost right after, they began their hypocritical lies
Saying how much they had loved her, “Oh such a shame she died!”

But don’t forget, reader, that they had been the reason
A beautiful girl had to go, throw away the life she’d been given
All because she couldn’t bear to spend another day
Living in this terrible world, and so she went away

Don’t call her selfish for not bearing it out
She’s been living too long in this merciless drought
She’s probably better off now, anywhere but here
Rest in peace my darling; you have nothing more to fear

I could pore out a cryful river
To bring him back
Would be a winner
But he not here now
Other's didn't appreciate him like me and others
Well miss yuo best poet
That this wurld has erve known
Well miss yuo hopeless romantic
Now yuos gone
Fly
Baby fly to your happy place
Where noone can hurt yuo
Or smack your beautiful face
You've been hurt to time many
But now yuo can't be
Bekause udders were hurtful
Though I know you forgave dem
But yuo still loved
Despite players and liar's
Maby now they'll think of you
As you gave all for their attire
But now again as I said
You fly with real wings

To hear you left us so early
Yeah I heard you took your life

Til the call from my bf ended wit tears

Cloth with colors on the front and sides
under which nationalism is disguised
In my eyes both flags have represented atrocities
the trail of tears, the destruction of a culture and the enslavement of another

But, society has changed significantly since then, we've gone through several wars, had protests, civil actions, and changes in law, so why can't we finally all just say we're different, but still friends?

Problem is hatred is still taught,
think about those nine people in a church that were shot.
9, caring people practicing their faith
were tragically killed because of indescribable hate.

now I'm all for knowing your roots, and being proud of where you're from.
but don't let that blind you to progression, away from the dark days of before
My take on the flag controversy
