With eager eyes
we spin the dice
Nebulous haze
Frantic gaze
Gates agape
Let's start the chase

Everybody's in for the craze
There's no time to waste
Flushed faces
Biting snares
Constrictor snakes
We rush in till we cascade

Not to realize
This is but a masquerade
Chasing our tails
In a daze
We stumble
Helter skelter

Life ask you to be in control of your pace
Stay calm, at ease, and humble
Do not listen to all the drunkard's tales
because no one's going to pay for your bail
Do what's right
until we reach the finish line
With dimes in our eyes
Prepared
for a deep slumber in our graves

-A Race To Our Graves, Margaret Austin Go
Revan Thrashin Oct 2014
When I sought out vengeance
I first dug two graves
One for my dear old friend
The other was for me

Rest In Peace Anthony
Rest In Peace Louie
Here lies a liar
Here lies a misanthrope

Your grave was just like you
Shallow
My coffin buried like me
Hollow

His dagger pierced my back
In treachery
Mine went through his heart
In vengeance

May we both be judged by divinity equally
To get what we deserve
I however believe we already got it
Here on earth
Tell me what you think of this write.

Beneath shade from tall poplars stand
markers: rows staggered hand-in-hand.

Rock slabs like soldiers on review
symbolic nameplates capture dew.

Planted deep, mounted in red-clay;
lean to and fro like mimes at play.

Weathered by icy winter frost
and torrid heat near sacred ghost,

echoes resound of beginnings
while dust sifts across the endings.

Shadows pass apon my grave

with wispers of my past day

with love and grace i come to

pass with happy faces in my

path now i know its ok to

say goodbye onto another day
This I wrote about my mother when I was 12 =)

Upon an honest mans grave they danced and joked

Upon an honest mans grave they sighed and smoked

Upon an honest mans grave they drank their wine

Upon an honest mans grave they did their line

Upon an honest mans grave they told some lies

Upon an honest mans grave they howled and cried

Upon an honest mans grave their life became so bleak

Upon an honest mans grace they were too dead to speak
Paul M Chafer Jun 2014
Graveyards bother me,
All those lives, silenced,
All that time, the memories,
(We were loved too once, you know,
we enjoyed life, see you soon!)
This aspect runs cold in my blood,
I can almost hear them chuckling,
He knows, Paul knows, (hello!)
Sure, their voices are in my head,
Their whispers, ancient stirrings,
Laughter from ages gone, dead,
Yet they call to me, taunt me,
Dead flesh and bones haunt me.
A full life, reduced to a dash.
I know I'm not ready, not yet,
Too much to do, to write, to share,
I shudder, walk away, dry mouthed,
No life without death, none,
Graveyards bother me.

Inspired by and dedicated to, the poem Graveyard written by Chimaera, written in 5 minutes, posted raw. (Some poems are like that, they burst free, as if escaping *******, as if they were waiting, like the graves awaits, not yet though, not yet, my dead tormentors.)

Upon an honest mans grave they told some lies

Upon an honest mans grave they howled and cried

Upon an honest mans grave their life became so bleak

Upon an honest mans grace they were too dead to speak
Words that drip
From a poison tongue
Like a leaky faucet

These choices anchors
Who we were sinking
Never to surface again

Everything we know
Disintegrating fast
We've left nothing memorable behind

Dug our own graves
With the shovels we made
Too filled with pride
To ever apologize
Buried ourselves alive

Our identities faded
Like ghosts
Dissolving into air
