Je me sens Evel Knievel ex machina
"Color me lucky !
I went to the canyon
To see the sights
To read the writes
To meet the heights
The heights were high
The lows were right
But something didn’t click

The tears didn’t run
The breath wasn’t taken
Yeah it was cool but I’m not mistaken
I wanted to be blown off that cliff
But the wind fell short, the air was stiff

Never have I met my sense of awe
I hope we’ll meet someday
I’m holding out hope that I find my strike
That I’ll be blown away
I was trying a new style with this one. It’s more rhyme oriented. This one might seem stiff but I’ll get more comfortable with it. I want to diversity my poetry a little bit.

--and the grand canyon is
getting smaller behind you
while your heart is getting
bigger, ready to burst,
craving a return to the journey:
when red dust reflected on
your sunglasses instead of
your side mirrors, the rearview,
when the car mileage hadn't hit
halfway. something
about the southwest settles
under your skin like an itch.
it's almost like-- it feels like--
you're finally finding out that
this must be what it is to be
homesick.
rozlyn's christmas poem
Tried to visit Petrified Forest but my stomach said no
Didn't really mind it cause it didn't have much to show
We drove on route 40 and a hot guy kept following us
When he had waved 20 times we were like "Okay, enough!"
In Flagstaff I got to check in at my very first motel
It was way cooler than the Dallas hotel!
We wanted to get wasted so we went out to find a bar
Some Germans were playing pool, they couldn't speak English at all
Shots! Shots! Shots!
Two of them were actually quite hot.
After some drinks we lost each other in the dark
Thankfully both remembered were the car was parked
Hungover as **** we left for Grand Canyon
I was so excited to see it with my favorite companion
The size of it was greater than I had imagined it to be
and squirrels were practically climbing up my knee
An idiot lady had her dogs locked in the car
***** was lucky that I didn't have a crowbar
Still missed our turkey but deers were walking free
When the heat almost killed us it was time to leave
It was one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced
But for Vegas we left to see something completely different!
Your heart is the Grand Canyon
I can walk along its edge, scream fiercely at the walls,
hurl rapier sharp words and boulders
down into the depths.
But I'd rather stand motionless in the arid air and let the span of it all
shrink me, bind me, devour me.
Echoes bound off the walls and dissipate into whispers, ghosts.
Dissipate into a momentous silence,
stillness,
containment,
thick walls holding me in your eternity.

I'm going to write a sonnet

About love, desperate attempt and jealousy

He walks like wind, wind from Grand Canyon

He talks like honey, honey sweeter than Canaan

His brows spread like hawk

His eyes streams like spring brook

What do I love about him?

Oh, nothing particularly

Maybe it's the way he listens

How his face glows with glistens

Maybe it's his passion

Enlighten my dark age prison

O captain My captain, sail me through tempest amid my heart

Guide me through the time we are apart

— The End —
