Widow
MdAsadullah Dec 2014
A widow in her fifties she was.
Lived in petty hut made out of straws.
Had no relatives dwelt all alone.
Only neighbours were her own.

Loved much her neighbour's child.
Cute little girl, dulcet and mild.
Twas little girl's birthday that day.
Widow was very glad and gay.

Birthday party was held that night.
She waited if someone would invite.
One by one invitees were coming.
With guests house was humming.

Lonely Widow waited in togs bright.
Gazed at house adorned with lights.
Poor woman! her wait had no end.
looking at house hours she spend.

When guests started coming out;
Wait was over and there was no doubt.
She stood and took a breath deep;
And walked towards her bed to sleep.
Gladys P Oct 2014
It was a gloomy Halloween night, misty, dark and cold,
With madness and mysteries that were yet to unfold,
When a pretty and pleasant witch, simmered hot brew,
Preparing to cast a spell, to the young and old.

With a poisonous drink, in scents of sweet potion,
And a fragrance of pure white lilies, only if they knew,
Tasty and hot, similar to a steamy cup of tea,
Placed in a large ***, plenty for everyone, and not leaving a clue.

As ghosts glided through, generating spooky sounds,
Reflecting mysterious whispers, as light as the winds,
And scary black bats flew endlessly, into the darkness,
Sparingly stroking, their generous long wings.

As guest gathered hopelessly and anxiously, drinking her brew,
And became drowsy, falling asleep,
And the witch grew weary and tired, through the night,
Upon her awakening, her invitees managed to escape, and she started to weep.

I know what I want:
It
You
This
Us

Hands pushing
heartbeats pumping
syllables into temples
leaning in
to your liveliness
hooked on
your sleeping bell,
there we are:

Sitting in a smoky attic
creaking in uncertainty
Teasing out vibrations
invading our airspaces,
I'm explaining to you
the legal differences
Between licensees
And invitees but neither of
Us remember why,
there we are:

Climbing back down to earth
You disappear first:
A wordless fixture cloaked in blackness.
I blindly step forward to follow you
But the wood caves and I come
crashing through
the ceiling
feeling
nothing

But you
Entrenched
in your magic haze,
Suddenly snapping
forward poised to
Envelop me just
before
I shatter.

It was dark but I could see you better.

Maybe neither of us are explained away
by stereotypes,
our identities
mired in contradictions
more like intricate mirrors
than we could have ever imagined.

And all
You worried about
Was me
And all
I worried about
Was how
you were going to explain that hole
in the ceiling
to your mom.

Love Story
Andre Baez Jul 2013
A love story is a symbol
Followed in the footsteps of poems

I once witnessed the sight of a halo
It was propped up by a set of horns
And enhanced by a pair of wings
In a form of which I would adore

It was in the midst of a vast sea
Of insecurities and misanthropy
Shared by all of my fellow invitees
Whom shared with me an agony

Such anguish of teenagers,
Why must we endure loneliness?
We wouldn't know that trials
Are much easier outside of court

Because courting is a method
Constructed through generations
Of evolution of the human species
In order to survive, but we divorce

The chore of love is too much
An inferno and essence of ***
With importance unforgotten
As mates are pursued in excess

As such, mates were pursuing you
How obvious your halo truly was
With it's light shimmering in truth
However it only served as a cover up

For your ***** past, unshared
With all of the world, could not
Remain hidden beneath light
For the darkness is devouring

And I am that very same darkness

I am a likeness that seeks refuge
With no place to go as I am half of life
I peek at your horns and sense
Opportunities for my right to shine

Shine being given only to a few
A select sum of conundrums
Of whom I would beckon to come
And share with me, a bit of fun

Oh the ecstasy, and the travesty
Of what follows from such things
However, I do not dwell, or sing
Songs wishing them back to me

Truly you are an evanescent glow,
As such, I cannot afford to keep you
Because you would heal my darkness
You would fulfill each of my dreams

However the adventure...
Is what appeals to me,
In this light, I ask for forgiveness
As I have wronged you constantly

Only for you to come back to me,
It is a horrific work of life,
For you to feel the need for me,
Is only detrimental to your shine

A love story is a symbol
Followed in the footsteps of poems

The first step to finding love is pain,
And angel you will hurt all the same

The first step to finding love is pain,
Unfurl your wings, and fly away...

From me.
Baby’s birthday bash
That sleeveless evening
Reveling rendezvous
Kith n’ kin couth akin
Muse, music, amused
Clown’s pranks amazed
Toddlers fulfilled the field day
Guests gazed gala in gusto
Hosting parents rejoiced
Of tots hurray in balloons array
Kid of the day was blessed n’ blushed
Banquet dished out warm recipe
Did its delicious duties to invitees
Parting gifts parted the day

Alas! Dad had bad mad day next
A deadly devil of truck struck
The unholy moment hauled him off
Satan had his say on that evil day
Massive melancholy moved in pain
Passive crowd cursed in air in vain
Time is not we think at times
Beware of untimely tyranny of Time!

Many such things happened. This is one such eye witness account. A true story.
my congenital heart defect

~for C.E.H.~

’tis true, my heart long damaged by repeated resuscitations,
the endless revivals invasive + new favorite hits, now so enlarged,
the doctors say, no más, no más, mr. boss, don’t let your guard down

too small to accept more standbys, ones needy most, the beseechers,
the ones who only know a single equation, love = pain, are witnesses,
no theorem proofs required, the ****** expressions unholy sufficient

a few invitees rush the red velvet ropes, inside, they hunker down,
finding a cozy artistic artery hangout, filtering my blood-streaming,
eyes for new artists, new poems, new strangers to take in, shelter...

much caring for the living, strains existence, a heart has limitations,
every human has capacity constraints for loving, but they bring their
friends, coequals in pain/heartaches/false positives, no rinse cycle

it is like calcium layering on you bones, additive, addictive, andieting
is a precursor to exhilarating dying, when love and pain passes
the point of no return, once, then, there is no expiation, no forgiveness

for the trail of your damaged acts requires admittance, recompense,
3 in 1 motor oil de minimus, you want to love equally, but impossible
task, yo, won’t last, but stretch flex skin to squeeze one more in, SMH

the puzzled doctors find my weakness DNA genetic, my lexicon has
no word in any language for barricade, fence, restraints, keep out, the hearts, smelling my blood, open cells, pile in, no blame attached

lender of first resort, giving my organs, what an exceptional way
to hasten my inevitable and total fulfillment, stretching my limits

Cheese
Raul M Murray Jul 2020
I got this adulation for cheese
Melted, grilled, or, chilled cheese
Burger and cheese
Mac and cheese
That's platter for the invitees
In the batter is egg and cheese
With a plate of cod and cheese
With a side of chips and cheese
Dish that is even eaten overseas
With top class curd goats cheese

We swirl like the dragons
Free from dungeons and darkness
In eternal salvation like salamanders
Although we aren't lizards hanging from trees
Hung up on life and disease
Breathing the air of autumn leaves
Dancing with the breeze, and ceasing to exist
Sending you our energies in the form of soft lullabies
If you can add to the good, you can keep away the evil
You can bring peace to yourself, and others in desperate need of quiet
You can be free from the peace of mind
Understand freedom in a nutshell, hanging like frescoed paintings
On top of a shelf of porridge and crimson red cherries, pears tresses
The parchment of each other, writing well within the textual framework of partridges in a pear tree
We can pray together, or remain silent forever
In vow of silence, and make lonesome Lumos shine bright like the kites running after in eros
Of the atmosphere, silenced forever, we sing lullabies for the ones to hear in their peace
A man with a peace of mind can understand silence and hold his tongue in the palm of murmurs
The sound swirls through the dungeon-like darkness, hunger for a touch of soil in the cold icy winters
We moon over these things, and it dawned on me that silence can last forever
And it isn't always good or bad
Sometimes it is evil to press and good to release yourself
Expand your mind, and be shapeless like water crashing against troughs flowing streams of fruit
Rivers could ripen, feel the song yonder deepen your soul
We wash these tears, from the eyes of agreeable people and disagreements come to me in a dream
These dreams are made of arguments and debates, I reason with myself unable to ever wake up in the morning
Howl from the depths of hell, and arrive on thin lands watching us with thin eyes like mirrors on cars, add what is specifically your own
Arrive in heaven, better to reign in hell
I'm lost in paradise on this ruin of thy moon and stars
Looking away from the fingers pointing at me like apples and bumps
Words are for the lugging carriage, to carry out their travels in their worlds from battered broken places
Wry comments from the crowd, and some cages of parakeets singing in kisses
Snakes in the grains of rice, stopping us from hissing from our caregivers and calling them unforgiving
Without food, I do not think I could live on
Without a mirror, I do not think I could live ignorantly with this hubris
Ran from the house at the age, I don't think I could live in such a cold climate
Raising my glass to my birthday invitees, they look at me blowing the birthday candles out, I'm in the seventh circle of Hell
Knells and bell tolls, ceramic steel galoshes, bitumen, and hydrophobic gum puts these dharma bums chewing grass together in apple streets full of cosmic debris
That look young and pretty, and pestering me with a limerick for some hypnosis and mirages in this solipsism
Aging like a dragon that used to burn out the flame of Hell, saving the morning again and again

If you're so cosmic, why don't you explain life to us from the Beezlebub spell, little dragon

The ‘Deceivers Of Time
  Masquerade Ball’

Invitees file past

Yesterday in drag,
  Tomorrow disguised

Today—the Present’s mask

Memories hide
  in the shadows of hope

All wishes dancing fast

Until the Jester laughs
  as the final waltz ends

Deception to the last

Please take a seat
relax, have a drink
It will come sooner or later
definitely, it will arrive at some point
of that I am positive, yes, very positive
is it recognizable? I think so, yes you'll know it
actually some do and some don't, but that's unimportant
oh! you don't know its name, but you invited it, did you not know
No, you do not remember, yes! a lot of people tend to forget, they do
oh! yes, the name, I never forget that, I know its name only too well
It goes everywhere with its dear life-long partner called Retribution
Its name is KARMA and its coming, do not forget that name KARMA
for it never forgets any name on its list of invitees, it never forgets!
Yes, as sure as Day and Night, its coming....

Nefarious slinks in resplendent in brazen Tuxedo
Gleaming white cuffs with toxic diamond links
Tanned suave he breezes in from Hades via Montenegro
Listen People I speak with  pernicious honesty methinks
When I say life is cool and pleasurable in a volcano

You wear different masks alas you don't even know this
The grave digger forgets there's also a digger for him too
Your speech of love comes from hateful hearts in opaque fix
Fiction of your truths holds the truth of the fictions that's you
Question your whys and see the sorrows hurling you licks

Compere Nefarious flicks his baton of fantasy filled control
Mass special invitees in adoration offers obeisance to whimsicals
Fake truthful news for herds to regurgitate and chew in patrols
Soap opera in haze by the twenty masks haunted by afterimages
Hijack lives to dehumanize as Compere Nefarious his vacuoles
