Sometimes I get off at the exit before mine
sometimes three even
to remind myself I can remember
things I haven't seen in a while
like the sharpness of the bend
or the bumps that could rip my tire off
because i know there will always be a
stoplight after the turn
and sometimes a person will walk on the
cross walk in front of me and even their
face seems familiar

but once I get down the road
I've realized, all I really wanted
was more time in my car
with an empty mind only
thinking about turns and lights
before that headache of my driveway
takes over
if my car ran on water I'd never leave the highway

Anne Sexton
Somebody who should have been born
is gone.

Just as the earth puckered its mouth,
each bud puffing out from its knot,
I changed my shoes, and then drove south.

Up past the Blue Mountains, where
Pennsylvania humps on endlessly,
wearing, like a crayoned cat, its green hair,

its roads sunken in like a gray washboard;
where, in truth, the ground cracks evilly,
a dark socket from which the coal has poured,

Somebody who should have been born
is gone.

the grass as bristly and stout as chives,
and me wondering when the ground would break,
and me wondering how anything fragile survives;

up in Pennsylvania, I met a little man,
not Rumpelstiltskin, at all, at all...
he took the fullness that love began.

Returning north, even the sky grew thin
like a high window looking nowhere.
The road was as flat as a sheet of tin.

Somebody who should have been born
is gone.

Yes, woman, such logic will lead
to loss without death. Or say what you meant,
you coward...this baby that I bleed.

i've forgotten your
scent, and soon
enough, i will forget
the way you made me feel when you
Kissed me
And how you would run your fingers down my arms ever so gently
I'll forget the way you told me I was your little piece of perfection
And the subtle way you would say "I love you"
I'll soon forget everything
for you,
have already
forgotten me.
miss you

Xanax dust

Dazed, mind filled with xanax dust.
I'm questioning who I am
When I look in the mirror I do not see myself
I see a stranger
With bags under her sunken in eyes
And her eyes, they look sad
Lifeless, dead
And her body
Her body's ugly, fat, disgusting
Covered with marks, scars, burns.
But as I look at this person in the mirror
I am over came with the urge
To hurt her, to feed her pills and potions
Because some how I think I am her
I am the sad girl in the mirror with the cuts down her arms
and the bags under her eyes
I just don't want to believe it
Believe I've wasted away
To xanax dust and cuts.
please do not abuse this drug

I've over and under thought this
reevaluated the situation more times than I can count
I've been back, forth and on the fence a few times
and tried to drink you away until the liquor ran out

it could end in a lovely mess or messy love,
and truth be told I'm not sure which is better.
Scared of what may come, we try to stay far away from each other
yet for some reason we can't help but keep falling together

Sometimes words just can't say what you feel
And the most beautiful poetry is

the tears sliding down your cheeks

the memory of being too small to understand anything but a smile

holding someone's hand for the first time

the pain no one can really put into words, when you lose the most important person in the world

The daydreams and nightdreams and everything else inbetween

And knowing you are loved

White train

She wants me to come to Kansas
Said she'd introduce me to the band

I asked her if she'd thought anymore
about letting me be her man

She sings a mean Bonnie Raitt
and she wails it from the heart
Gonna tell the truth about it
Honey, that's the hardest part

There's a white train a'comin
north from Wichita

I want to make it to Lecompton
before the snow begins to fall

I know just what she needs
when she's low and when it's dark

She needs that white train
running north from Wichita

I need to lay beside her
and listen to her heart
Gonna tell the truth about it
Honey, that's the hardest part.
