Color me green, red or orange
I am only temporally chained
I am not bound to one spectrum

Color me life and light
I have breathed a thousand breaths
and still, I long to see tomorrow's sun

color me death and decay
though I fall, you will see me again
come spring, my smile will bloom for a season

A lot can happen in for years.
I said, but you begged
You don’t think you’ll come back?
Not even for me?
Not even for you. Not even for you,
but you see this is just a ghost town
haunted by the very memory
of your wild existence,
calling a teenager after curfew to your street name,
a few skipped breaths in bed,
kid skin and little bellies
trapped by wide-spread fingers and an innocent
lust. *A lot can happen in four years.

Twenty two sounds a lot older when you’re eighteen
and beautiful, but really
we’re all just chasing cars, multiplying the distance,
confusing the circumstances and rebelling
against the plan. This place isn't how you left it.
I’m not the glass-eyed girl in your driveway
telling you I’d never change if you would just stay
within my reach. I know I missed a few calls.
I know you did, too.
But honestly, what more could we expect
from a dreamer and trailer boy with alcohol breath?
We’ve had our roles from the beginning.
We were unlucky crossing paths, supernovas
whose rubble fell together on the ground in a coded map
that only our hands could read.

You don’t think you’ll come back?
You said, but now
1,910 miles between,
I know that it’s you that won’t come back for me.
Part 2 response to my poem from last year called "Four Years."
The leaf’s gentle sway
Caressed by the wind
Dancing to its tunes
Glee written over it
Quivering with laughter
Sun rays shining through
Glistening with freshness
Rich embroidery all over
Intricate designs of nature
Adorning the swaying branches

You shot me in the stomach
And not the head.
I thought you'd try to
**** my wishful thoughts,
But you saved me from
The butterflies instead.

O come in time;
Bring the wine.
A friend you'll be,
A friend to me.

Or take your time;
Forget the wine.
Just stay with me,
Just bleed.
I don't know. Criticism appreciated.

Tonight I tried to find the sun beyond horizon bare,
But when I climbed atop a hill I found but blackness there.

The moon, accomplice to this lack, held darkness in her gaze;
What water dark and somnolent did swallow her bright haze?

Her solemn limbs and vacant eyes were phantoms to behold:
Pray do come down and spare your crown, for I grow tired and cold!

i close my eyes and count to ten
how is it already that time again?
i set my clock for 6 am
it's time for another year
a year of tears and fights
a year of black and white
where grey isn't even an option
on a multiple choice question
so many things are the same
but if they're different who's to blame
same teachers and same kids
with the same jokes and the same wit
i close my eyes but open them
maybe i'll wake up at 6:10
School tomorrow.

tangled tendrils
and running
mascara

arctic thoughts
caressing a
hollow heart

she's lost herself,
in the hailstorms
and cold winter
nights

but she will never
forget the winter storm
that he used
to tear apart
her paper heart
