There are so many times in life
When we are forced to choose
Do we help someone else win
Even if it means that we lose

For me the choice has been easy
Always fill other people with cheer
Even if the choice hurts me,
It's worth it to remove their tear.

There are times when it gets lonely
Putting others before one's self
There are times when it almost feels
Like I put my own needs on a shelf

While doing all I can for others
I try my best to never complain
But even with my best efforts
It's me that gets left out in the rain

When someone needs a friend
I'm always the one that they call
Then when they are feeling better
I'm ignored; left alone too bawl

I don't regret the things I have done
Because it helped show them I care
But sometimes it'd be nice for me
If somebody could be there

Throughout my entire life
I've been hurt putting others first
But never having the favor returned
...that is definitely the worst.

She was the girl who,
Everyone thought was
So beautiful and amazing.
But yet she was so broken,
And no one knew

Too many times we fear the darkness.
While the girl in the corner continues helplessly crying,
Not a single soul stops to notice,
Not a single soul dares to share their light.
Darkness is simply without  light.
In this day and age, we get so caught up trying to find our light that we never stop to look around and see if anyone else has found their spark.
Why are we so selfish?
Is it too hard to walk a couple steps down your mighty ladder to give someone a hand up?
Will it hold you back to help the weakest link?
This world goes 'round when we all work together.
So, don't be afraid of the dark,
But rather, rush into it, full speed ahead.

Childhood is so happy.
You're so innocent and pure and have the whole world ahead of you.
Your dreams are never too big for anyone to doubt because they think you're just a kid and you'll grow out of them,
But when you never do, the same people say you'll never achieve those dreams.
They tell you to think more realistically.
They never give you a chance to great.
It's quite twisted.

Death surrounded me,
But you kept me safe.
Just like the corpses and the earth,
You encompassed me and we
became one.
The moon was high,
As was my spirit.
When your baby blues met my
chocolate browns,
The world disappeared.
The death was present,
But with you I was alive.

Darkness surrounded me,
But you gave me hope.
You were the light
In my abyss of darkness.
When I didn't know which path to take,
You assured that the right one
Would prove itself.
The twists and turns,
Were far and plenty,
But you stayed at my side,
Protecting me through it all.
