She pick pocketed all the moments she told me she loved me
Strong arm robbed me of the hope planted in my sternum
Took the few words still stuck on my tongue
And so I forgave her

My heart did not break
The sun still rose today
And the rain reminded me I can still feel
And so I forgave her

I will move slowly forward
Finding new ways to forget her
Plucking her like cotton out of my memory
So I can forgive her

This morning I woke up,
And knew for sure
That you were gone.

The last time that I touched you
Was inside of a dream.

And though my cheek still tingled,
Where I last felt your breath

I knew it wasn't real,
And wouldn't ever be.

Now I must start my mourning
Again, at the beginning.
It's in his shadow we plead
Under his wrath we bleed
His destruction leaks hate into the weak
Leaving the unsubstantial reaping his critique
His actions scorned through years of neglect
It's in his perception only, that we become wrecked
Why do we follow knowing wrong from right
Pushing those we love away from the light
His power is without doubt equal to the greats
Although derived from stray minded it opens the gates
The gates into the souls of those who are tattered
Turning old memories to ones now shattered
Although through it all, we have nothing to fear
For he is nothing more than a broken mirror
It just takes practice to realize his weakness
All his power is nothing to the strong but bleakness
It's in his own prison he will rot
Although it's up to us to become the Juggernaut

it's interesting how, at night,  the smoke only reveals itself when shone on by the light. it's not even only the smoke -- it's the wind that moves it.

i thought of you while i smoked those three cigarettes. i can only reveal my true self when i'm with you. you are my light; the only one who possesses the ability to bring out the beauty in me, the beauty i've been keeping in for a very long time.

i'm intoxicated. both by the cigarettes and by you.
this is about someone.
I am your best kept secret
The one you are afraid to be seen with
The one you can't bring back to your friends
The one you can't tell anyone about.
But I am the one who thought you cared
I am the one who fell head over heels
And I am the one picking myself up off the floor
And strutting out the front door.

We live in a country without the taut and slitting threads of a niqab
So we whisper, Thank God
Instead, we bind ourselves in barely-there strings
Lashing tan-bedded skin.
The pink-and-glitter headlines call GET BEACH READY
And we listen.
We've got to glow in just the right way
To catch the eye of the ever-expectant gaze,
Concealing zits, freckles, and military-green welts,

We brush over the truth about a lot of things.

The taste of rejection is rusty and red
I chewed the inside of my cheek when he said
*I'm just not interested.

Clearest water and summer sun
the love in your eyes crystal,
shown through, so I let go.
Earth fell away and
you recalled for us a glimpse of infinity.

Dreams light the day
and days dream the light.

I woke to a soft green silence,
a quiet mystery encompassing and peaceful,
a silence you couldn't hear-
you left
and I'm sunk back into the dust.
This Dust.
Up at the emptiness,
the Void
my grief throws stones  .  .     .       .           .
but I only loose the stars
and they just rain down.

I was not prepared for the depth of this #brokenheart

In vain I yawn and ponder on
furthermore the questions creep
were wake the night and not the dawn
In fact my yawn had strived complete
