I am not one to write
words of love, but
Surely I must make an exception
for you

You pulled me up from the bottom
of the darkest sea
And into my hand you placed
a little candle to help me see

The other hand you took in yours,
Giving it new warmth
A heat that spread through my veins
and sent the fear away

We walked upon the diamond sand
and gazed up at the stars
Whispered secrets, shared stories,
found that we share pain

Now. hold me close
and don't let go
You keep me from falling down
Keep my hand warm inside yours

It's cliche to say that you
brought sunshine back to me
Even when no one else
seemed to truly see

I was lost, and I was alone
but you found me
I hear your voice, I take your hand
and now I am complete

I am not one to write
words of love, but
Now I have made an exception
for you

For you have surely earned these words,
scratched down in pale morning light
You treat my heart so carefully,
you're sure to do what's right

So let me keep
my hand in yours
As we walk
through the night

Stick a hook into my heart
Barbed end piercing arteries
Reel it in and
Yank the ***** out of my chest
I'll scream until I cannot feel
anything
  anymore.

Shove a needle into my brain
Thread on the end drifting through gray
Sew up the weeping chasms
Where I have gone mad
I'll scream until I cannot make
a single sound
  anymore.

Pierce my skin with a blade
Shining silver coated in crimson
Slide it through the thin white and
Let scarlet rivers flow
I'll scream until I cannot hear
the words they say
  anymore.

Stab sharp-edged swords into my soul
Vicious syllables tearing me to pieces
Rip me apart and scatter the shreds
Across the roiling ocean
I'll scream until I cannot live
in this cruel world
  anymore.
Rock against rock,
Tension slips,
Pressure then shock,
First tremor grips,
Fear in the hearts,
Of parents for their children,
It's just the start,
Of the environmental villain's,
Attack. Through the Earth,
Everything shakes,
"Run for all your worth!"
"Quick, before the roof breaks!"
Hearts pounding,
The world begins to fall,
Terror is surrounding,
Prayers for Nepal,
And the zenith, Everest,
Feels the ground move beneath its feet,
The chaos is effortless,
Gravity's quest is complete,
Bringing down the snow,
That clings to the mountainside,
And they all know,
There's nowhere left to hide,
The fateful quake
Measured seven-point-nine,
So much at stake,
We see the death toll rise,
Too strong for too long,
It all goes wrong,
Tears from the young,
And loved ones gone,
The wrath of the world,
That keeps us alive,
Suddenly hurled,
Over a thousand in the fire.

The pain it caused is too great,
To just stand by and wait.
So for once can we work together?
Just try and help each other?

For once let's put our differences aside,
And help.
In memory of all those who have died due to the earthquake in Nepal.

Just like the way that parts of the 'Indian' Ocean
May once
Have fallen from 'my' umbrella spokes
So we are never landlords
For 'our' planet
Only rivers
Breaking and carving and realigning
The narrow seams
We touch

I’ve watched a banquet of sunsets
In my too many
Too few
Years

I wonder who’s been so careless
Smeared their lipstick
Greasy stains upon the walls
-Grey sand from the football grits my eyes-

The night pulls grey over grey over grey
Like winter jumpers
And woollen mornings
-Pull melancholy over sombre over sunken-

A heaven-smoked cigarette
Just beads through
Its own cloud of tobacco fog
-“Mummy was here. She left her ciggie behind her.”-

The evening is fresh pine wood
I can count the knots
And stretch apart the grain in the sky
-Walk hard and fast and watch the shadow gape-

Indigo floats in heavy curtains
Settles deep
Rock pools and cinema seats
-“You’re steaming up the glass. Pig.”-

It hangs like a dishcloth all thick
And dusty yellow
On some great washing line
-My fingers fumble over the latches-

A lime scarf seeps in like gas
Chlorine poison
All gruesome and gorgeous
-Cut me open with your kisses-

All fades out to aqua glass
Clearer than water
Oceans deep into the atmosphere
-“I’m already missing the now. We’ll never be this young again.”-

White and cut sharp like paper reams
Yet tangible
Like the pith of an orange
-I choke on my teeth, my throat, my words-

Pink props a ladder against the clouds
Parts them wide
And spills out wine
-Like seconds from our sand-timer-

And
Still I cannot
Understand why
We’re convinced that the sky is only ever blue

Just think of rain as my tears
At first the sound of lightening
Is what you hear
Then the it starts drizzling
    Drop  by drop
The clouds turning black
Refraining from letting it out at first
Trying to remain intact
Far above in the sky.

The sobbing starts with a  roar
The lightening somethig I once adored
Now becoming a part of me
Something that I hate.

Then suddenly the clouds can't hold it in
It bursts all the pain it had within
Shedding down the rain of tears
Croaking to those who can hear
Some wear a raincoat
And some a get an umbrella
Others run away
But some drench themselves
In my own pain
And feel the tears on their own skins
They kiss the tears
And quench their thusts
And when they do,
There's a cloud burst
*The black sky turns blue again.

My heaven:
Sandcastles
Cirrocumulus
Being eight
To die,
To fall,
To lose,
In an act of,
Life-giving,
Spirit lifting,
Victory,
Is simply,
Nonsensical,
And yet,
Perfect,
Completely,
Irrational,
And yet,
Thought out,
And so,
Incomprehensible,
With human mind,
But absolutely,
And definitely,
The right thing to do,
Because God loved the world so much,
He would let his own creation,
Take his only son from him,
To save his creation,
From the hands of evil.

And the best thing?
The most amazing and inconceivable thing of all,
Is that he did it for all mankind.

Imagine a world
no different than our own
except that
everything was sexualized.
Where women were criticized,
for how they dress
Where women were blamed
for the crimes of men.
Where men were pressured
to be what they’re not,
Where men were demeaned
for respecting women.
Imagine a world
no different than our own
except that
everything was divided.
Where whites fought with blacks,
over basic rights,
Where democrats fought with republicans
for not seeing eye-to-eye,
Where women fought with men,
for equality they deserve,
Where countries fought with countries,
for greed, power, and prestige.
Imagine a world
no different than our own
except that
life was fleeting.
Where people only lived
for limited years,
Where time was squandered
on things that don’t matter.
Where people were consumed
by greed, power, and prestige,
Where life was controlled
by the quest for more.

Imagine a world
no different than our own.
The gentle whir of a dehumidifier,
In a darkened room,
The muffled beats of a playlist,
In a darkened room,
The light glares from a laptop,
In a darkened room,
One curtain drawn, the other caught on the corner of a chest of drawers,
In a darkened room,
A triangle of light on the door,
In a darkened room,
A limp hand dangles from the bed,
In a darkened room,
And a broken soul sleeps as one,
In a darkened room.
